Job Description

Position: Executive Director

Supervisor: Reports to the Board of Trustees

Status: Salaried, exempt

Hours:37.5/week

Five days/week with flexibility

Salary: Based on experience

Position Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for insuring that the mission of NHCTF is carried out effectively by working in partnership with the Board of Trustees to ensure the organization’s growth and success. The Executive Director will manage the daily operations of the NHCTF. In addition to overseeing internal operations, the Executive Director works closely with state level and community-based organizations to promote a statewide strategy to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to advance the family support movement in New Hampshire.

To the extent that any job description can reflect every duty with exact detail, the following is a description of major areas of responsibilities to be carried out by the Executive Director.

Resource Development

  • Implement the Public Relations and Marketing Plan developed and approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Individual donor development
  • Corporate donor relations
  • Grant research, writing, and management
  • Submit annual grant application, annual report and other required documentation for contract with Federal Office for Children, Youth and Families.

Financial management

  • Prepare Annual Budget.
  • Manage income and expenses according to NHCTF policy.
  • Report to the Board of Trustees on the financial status of the organization.
  • Prepare and submit grant management reports to the Federal Office of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention.
  • Oversee payroll and related documents.
  • Oversee Grant Award payments and funding cycles.
  • Monitor and report on Endowment activity.
  • Inform Trustees on the status of investment accounts.
  • Manage all reports and accounting of grant/foundation income.

Organizational/Board Development

  • Assist in the recruitment, training and ongoing development of the Board of Trustees in the mission of the child abuse prevention in general, and the mission and work of the NHCTF in particular.

Staff supervision and development

  • Recruit, train, supervise and if necessary dismiss staff.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews.

Grantmaking program

  • Administer grantmaking program.
  • Monitor evaluation process for grantee partners.

Special initiatives of the NHCTF

  • The NHCTF from time to time launches special projects or initiatives that will help advance its mission. The Executive Director is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of such projects.

Additional responsibilities

  • The Executive Director is responsible for all other tasks that relate to or assist in the promotion of the mission of the New Hampshire Children’s Trust Fund.

Minimum requirements of the position

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Access and Quickbooks
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human services administration or other related field.
  • Three years of experience in administration.
  • Successful grant-writing and fund development experience
  • Ability to affirm the mission of the New Hampshire Children’s Trust Fund.
  • Valid drivers license.
