Multiple Choice Quiz Apps

Finished Multiple Choice Quiz apps have two modes of quizzes: Quiz Mode and Practice Mode.

Quiz Mode lets users answer up to 15 randomly selected questions and records the number of correct answers the user made while taking the quiz. The user can take this quiz as either a pre-quiz or a post-quiz; pre-quiz mode is meant to be taken before the user learns any of the material presented in the quiz, while post-quiz is meant to be taken after the material has been learned. The pre-quiz and the post-quiz can only be taken once each, and the results from taking either quiz are recorded inside the app. Users also have the choice of resetting their quiz scores, which will allow them to take the quizzes again.

Practice Mode asks users every question from the multiple choice quiz. Unlike Quiz Mode, results from Practice Mode are not recorded and can be taken more than once.

Each question will have four answers associated with it. In quiz mode, these answers are randomly assigned to a letter: A, B, C, or D. So if two students are taking a quiz on their separate devices and are answering the same question, the letter that has the correct answer will be different for both students.

Planning Content

Each multiple choice card inside an app will contain a question and four answers. Only one of these answers can be designated as a “correct” answer.

Some multiple-choice quizzes feature answers such as “All of the above” or some variant of the phrase. Because answers are randomly ordered, it would be confusing if the answer “All of the above” were assigned a letter value such as A, thus appearing over all other answers. It is important to keep the feature of answer randomization in mind when creating quiz content. It is recommended to use a phrase such as “All other answers” instead.

Description of Quiz

This will be the description of the quiz that appears on the screen before the users take the quiz.

Managing Questions

Upon the program starting, Multiple Choice Quiz Maker begins with one empty card. New cards can be created using either the “Create New Card Before Current Card” or “Create New Card After Current Card” buttons.

The question set can be navigated via the “Previous Card” or “Next Card” buttons. Clicking either button will fill the text boxes with the appropriate resources of the card being navigated to. The numbers above the question and answer text boxes indicate which card in the set is currently being edited.

Cards can also be deleted from the set by navigating to the unwanted card using the “Previous Card” and “Next Card” buttons and clicking the “Delete Current Card” button.

Individual Questions

Each individual “card” consists of a question and four possible answers to the question. The answer designated as the “correct” answer can be chosen using the chooser labeled “Correct Answer”.

Exporting Card Set

Current progress on a multiple choice quiz can be saved by using the “Export Multiple Choice Quiz Set” option found in the “File” menu.

Selecting the “Export Multiple Choice Quiz Set” option will prompt for a folder to save all of the resources of the multiple choice quiz into. It is recommended that an empty folder is selected.

Importing Card Set

Importing a saved multiple choice quiz can be done through the “Import Multiple Choice Quiz Set” option in the “File” menu.

Importing a multiple choice quiz will also prompt for a folder to be selected. Select a folder which contains saved multiple choice data and click open.
