How to Create your Portfolio in LiveText

  1. Open your LiveText account.
  2. Click the ‘Create’ tab in the middle of the page.
  3. If you are creating an undergraduate working portfolio, use the pull down menu under ‘Choose a Folder.’ In the MurrayStateUniversity section (not LiveText section), choose the appropriate category from the ‘Students - Undergraduate’ list.
  4. From the ‘Choose a Template’ pull down menu, choose the template you need. One choice under the category you chose in step 3 will be a ‘working portfolio.’
  5. If you are creating a student teaching eligibility portfolio, choose ‘Student Teachers’ from the ‘Choose a Folder’ pull down folder menu (choose one under Murray State University, not LiveText).
  6. From the ‘Choose a Template’ pull down menu, choose the portfolio template you need.

  8. From the ‘Choose a Template’ pull down menu, choose the portfolio template you need.
  9. [Next step for everyone]After you choose a template, the outline for the portfolio template you have chosen appears in yellow on the right.
  10. In the Title box, type the name of the template you chose with your name at the end, where the title says ‘student name.’ (You can change the date in the title to the date of the semester you are creating it or leave the date off. The date just indicates the latest version of the template.) (A description is optional.)
  11. Click the Create Document button.
  12. Congratulations! You have just created your Working Portfolio! [Notice, it even says it was created by you.]
  13. You could start working in your portfolio now. However, in order to know where to find your document when you open your account, click the ‘MyDesk’ tab at the top left of your screen.
  14. Your document is shown on your main page under the general heading, ‘My Work.’ Notice it will always tell you the type (portfolio) and when it was created and last modified. (The times are shown today, but will change to dates tomorrow.)
  15. To open the document, click on its name.
  16. If you click on each standard down the left side, you will see the included suggestions for possible artifacts and the wording of the standard. There is also a place for your affidavit of authorship. All the Teacher Standards can be seen under the last tab.
  17. For help with adding documents to your portfolio, see the following HelpSheet - to Add Documents to your Portfolio.doc.
