Morton Blaze Parent Representative Responsibilities

It is prudent for every team to have a Parent Representative for their team. The following are the various responsibilities that the Coach can decide to delegate to the Parent Representative

Hotel Reservations

  • Reserve block of rooms - parents call in to reserve from the block.
  • Try to get hotels with breakfast or negotiate for breakfast to be included.

Socials during Tournaments (or any time)

  • You can ask the hotel for a courtesy conference room to bring in pizza’s, go to a restaurant, or see if someone on the team would host during a home tournament.
  • Get other mom's to step up and help with these.

Blaze Tournament Committee

  • Each team needs to have a representative for the Tournament Committee. It does not have to be the Parent Rep.
  • Participating on the Tournament Committee allows each team to have a representative and share their ideas on how the tournament operates, what food we serve, what vendors are there, etc.

Coach's Gift

  • Each season (fall and spring), it is nice to recognize how much time and effort the coaches (Head Coach and Assistant Coaches) put into the team. Whether the parents agree or not with the Coach, it is important to recognize the commitment and show the kids the importance of thanking their leaders.
  • This is a good job to delegate to another team mom or dad.

Game Treats

  • Every team can decide if they want to do after game treats.
  • Create a snack schedule for the team.
  • Since there are so many food allergies, keep away from dairy, candy and peanuts.
  • Fresh fruit like bananas and oranges are good choices.

Directions to Fields and hotels

  • Email to parents a week ahead of time the directions to the soccer fields or hotel, as applicable.

Game Times/Schedule Changes

  • Email out to parents the tournament and league schedules as soon as they are available and any changes that occur with the schedules.

What to wear

  • Email the parents on which color shirt to wear for the games.
  • Remember – for “friendlies” (non-league, non-tournament) games, they are to wear their training shirts, and not Blaze shirts, due to the IYSA insurance rules.

Time

  • Email the parents what time the coach wants the players on the field to start warming up.

Press Releases

  • Every kid loves their picture in the paper and every parent loves to see their kids in the paper!
  • After a successful tournament or season or any other “newsworthy” event, email a picture a short article to the local papers.
