Your team is cordially invited to attend the Moon Area High School Speech & Debate Tournament on November 18th, 2017at Moon Area High School.

Registration will be on tabroom.com. Registration will close on November 18th at 9:00am.

PHSSL rules and time limits will be used in all speech and debate events. No double entries, please.

We will have four rounds in speech competitions and in debate.

We will merge HI and DI, US Extemp and International Extemp, Prose and Poetryif numbers are low.

Registration Fees:

The registration fee will be five dollars ($5) per student.

Checks are to be made payable to Moon Area Speech & Debate Team or MASD.

Judges:

1 per 5 in speech, or fraction thereof

1 per 5 in congress, or fraction thereof

1 per 2 in debate, or fraction thereof

All judges are expected to stay for the entire tournament and present for all rounds. If any judge leaves the tournament early, without providing a replacement, his/her school will be disqualified from competition. Judges may be moved from one event to another if needed.

Registration is from 7:45 – 8:15

Snacks/Lunch:

Snacks will be on sale throughout the day.

Lunch tickets (2 pieces of Pizza, Drink and Snack) will be on sale for $5 before the tournament begins.

Awards:

Trophies are awarded for the following:

Congress – Presiding Officers

Outstanding and Superior Speakers for the day

Individual events and debate – top 6 in each. Events that have fewer than 10 entries will have awards for the top 3.

Sweepstakes award based on each school’s top two individuals / teams in each event that has 4 or more school teams represented. You do not need to submit sweepstakes entries.

No double entries.

Please have busses drop off students at the STUDENT ENTRANCE. It is clearly marked. Busses will need to drive around the school in order to do this. Parking for busses is available near the football field and tennis courts.
