We encourage all Mount Tabor senior families to file the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid at fafsa.ed.gov.
March 1 is the priority of most North Carolina colleges and universities, but deadlines vary by school. Check individual college and university websites for their specific information about required forms and deadline dates. The College Foundation of North Carolina sponsors FAFSA Day on Saturday, February 28, 2015 as an opportunity for students and their families to receive assistance in filing the FAFSA. Mount Tabor is a FAFSA Day site so see your school counselor if you want to sign up.
You will find the following information at the Winston-Salem Foundation web site at www.wsfoundation.org. Click on Students and How to Apply. The application process opens on January 1, 2015. April 1, 2015 is the deadline for most merit-based scholarships. August 15, 2015 is the deadline for other financial need-based resources.
COMMON APPLICATION PROCESS

After you initially register with us, the Common Application processrequires the following:

· completion of all other sections of theapplication
· submission of the application by clickingthese two buttons from the application menu page:
o "Submit Completed Application"
o "Yes, please submit my application"

Note that scholarships that are managed by the Winston-Salem Foundation exclusively for Mount Tabor students are highlighted below.
Important scholarship practices for students and parents:
1. Search scholarship and financial aid opportunities available from the colleges and universities where you plan to apply-know deadlines and application procedures.
2. Research scholarship opportunities at a national database like wwwfastweb.com or www.scholarships.com to find broad and some unique scholarship opportunities.
3. ALL North Carolina families should review scholarship and financial aid information available at CFNC.org. Click on Pay and then Grants and Scholarships. Information about the FAFSA, Need-Based Grants and Scholarships, Merit-Based Grants and Scholarships and Grants and Scholarship Search tools. FORGIVABLE EDUCATION LOANS FOR SERVICE (FELS) provides funding for North Carolina students pursuing programs leading to careers in areas with critical need, such as nursing, teaching, allied health fields and medicine. The FELS application and program information for the 205-16 academic year is available at www.CFNC.org/FELS. The priority deadline for submitting the FELS application is April 1, 2015.
STUDENT FINANCIAL AID FOR NORTH CAROLINIANS

MOUNT TABOR PTSA ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Criteria: MT seniors who are PTSA members and minimum QPA of 4.5 and GPA of 3.5
Awards: Two $1,000 scholarships (one female and one male)
Deadline: April 24, 2015

MOUNT TABOR PTSA ARTS LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS
Criteria: MT seniors who are PTSA members and participate in music, drama, art, or dance at junior and/or senior level with a minimum GPA of 3.0; eligible students must have served in a leadership position in performing or visual arts
Awards: Three $500 scholarships
Deadline: April 24, 2015

MOUNT TABOR PTSA ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Criteria: MT seniors who are PTSA members and have or will participate in a varsity level sport during the senior year with a minimum QPA of 3.0
Awards: Four $500 scholarships
Deadline: April 24, 2015

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE SCHOLARSHIP (STATE EMPLOYEES CREDIT UNION)
Criteria: Eligible students are seniors at North Carolina traditional public high schools who have been accepted to one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina; student has demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement; student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and deserving of financial aid
Award: One $10,000 scholarship (over 4 years)
Deadline: May 1, 2015 (Mount Tabor application will include Senior Profile and Resume, Letter of Acceptance to a UNC school, and statement of character, integrity, community involvement, and financial need, and statement of parent/guardian employment to Mr. Huck by April 20, 2015)

STATE EMPLOYEE ASSOCIATION OF NORTH CAROLINA (SEANC) SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Student and/or parent or guardian must be a member of SEANC; nonmembers whose parents work for the state of NC or are retired from the state may review eligibility information at the web site
Awards: 30 annual scholarships (15 merit-based, 15 financial need) for four-year college or university students
8 annual scholarships (4 merit-based, 4 financial need) for junior, community, or technical college students
Deadline: April 15, 2015 (and returned to the Scholarship Chairman of the SEANC district of which the parent is a member); Financial need applicants must include a copy of the FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) Summary

ERICA WOLFE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Mount Tabor senior who has participated in band/orchestra or high school sports, school clubs, and community organizations; minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA
Award: one scholarship, varies each year (usually $750 to $1,000)
Deadline: April 1, 2015 (submit application to Mr. Huck)

WES BURTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Mount Tabor senior who has demonstrated examples of community and school service, plans to major in mathematics, computer science, business administration, or engineering in college, and demonstrates financial need
Award: $500
Deadline: April 1, 2015

JOSH GRAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Mount Tabor seniors who are members of the girls or boys soccer teams and demonstrate strong character and leadership skills, extraordinary team spirit, concern for others, a positive and encouraging attitude toward teammates, and a genuine lover for soccer; academic promise and financial need also considered
Award: $1,000
Deadline: April 15, 2015 (submit application materials to Mr. Huck)

EDWARD KENT WELCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Mount Tabor seniors who are accepted to and plan to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and demonstrate academic promise, evidence of strong moral character, genuine concern for others, and school and/or community leadership
Award: $1,500
Deadline: all seniors who plan to attend UNC-Chapel Hill are considered in May

AUBREY LEE BROOKS SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: North Carolina resident and graduating senior permanently residing in one of the following counties: Alamance, Bertie, Caswell, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Swain or Warren and planning to attend North Carolina State University, UNC-Chapel Hill or UNC-Greensboro; successful applicants have excellent high school grades and SAT/ACT scores, have participated in extracurricular activities, volunteered in their community and/or been regularly employed and have demonstrated leadership; applicants must demonstrate financial need based on completion of the FAFSA which must be filed by January 31, 2015
Awards: Scholarships up to approximately one-half of the cost of an undergraduate education
Deadline: January 31, 2015 for submitting the scholarship application (including transcript and ACT/SAT scores) and the FAFSA; references are completed online and accepted through February 6, 2015

JAGANNATHAN SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: North Carolina seniors who plan to attend one of the 16 constituent institutions of the UNC system on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular activities and evidence of leadership (FAFSA must be completed online by February 1, 2014)
Award: One $2,000 scholarship

VIENNA CIVIC CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Seniors from Mount Tabor, North Forsyth, West Forsyth or Reagan High Schools or be recommended by a member of the Vienna Civic Club; based on need & merit
Awards: $100 and $500 scholarships

BUICK ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Criteria: The program recognizes community-minded students who are involved in and out of school, plan to be full-time college students in fall of 2013, and plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry
Awards: Up to $25,000 per year

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR SCHOLARSHIP (NCAE & NCFPSC)
Criteria: North Carolina residents enrolled in a public high school in their senior year; character community involvement, and scholastic achievement

JUNIOR LEAGUE OF WINSTON-SALEM SCHOLASHIP PROGRAM
Criteria: College-bound high school senior who demonstrates a desire to serve others through volunteerism
Award: $1,000 scholarship

FORSYTH COUNTY FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Forsyth County students planning to pursue a degree in the field of Agriculture
Awards: $5,000 scholarship for a 4-year college and $2,500 scholarship for a community college

UNITED STATES BOWLING CONGRESS ASSOCIATION YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: NC seniors who are current members of NCS USBCA and bowling in a certified USBC North Carolina youth league with an unimpaired amateur standing in bowling
Awards: $2,000 scholarships

WHITLOW-OSBORNE SCHOLARSHIP (NORTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF RESCUE & EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES, INC.
Criteria: High school seniors or members of an Emergency Services organization in the following counties: Alamance, Alleghany, Ashe, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin; recipient must enter into an Emergency Services Curriculum for a course of study at a community college, technical college, or an accredited trade school.

Criteria: Native born citizens of Forsyth County or Davidson County, NC and currently reside in either county, demonstrate academic achievement and financial need, and must be pursuing an a degree in the field of Education or Dental Science; good students but no gpa minimum

Awards: $20,000 scholarships per year, renewable

Award: One $1,000 scholarship to be used for any post high school learning experience/training or for equipment/technology needed for employment
