Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of the Montgomery County Bar Association,

I would like to make you aware of an exciting change in procedure regarding the filing and processing of Expunction cases in the District Clerk’s office. We are beginning the transition from agency notice by Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested, to Electronic Notifications.

For those Montgomery County agencies that have provided secure e-mail addresses for Expunction Notifications, you will now have the option of providing that e-mail address in your petition, in place of the physical address. For each agency that you choose to have noticed by secure electronic mail, you will be able to forego the normal $20.00 issuance fee, and you will not be required to provide physical copies of the petition to be mailed.

While we are working on obtaining more approved secured electronic mail addresses for the agencies that are commonly noticed, there may still be agencies that need to be noticed of your Petitions for Expunction, who have not yet provided us with secured electronic mail addresses. For these, we will still need you to provide the $20.00 issuance fee and physical copies of the petition, for issuance.

Please find attached a list of those Montgomery County agencies, which have provided a secured electronic mail address for notification of Expunction petitions and orders. Please note, the District Clerk will not be able to issue notice by electronic mail, or waive the $20.00 CMRRR issuance fee, unless these e-mail addresses are provided in the petition that is filed with the District Clerk.
