Midland Recognized As Leader in Sustainability

MIDLAND RECOGNIZED AS LEADER IN SUSTAINABILITY

Consumer Electronic Brand Does Its Part For The Environment

KANSAS CITY – March 16, 2015 – Midland Radio Corporation is proud to be recognized with the Leadership in Sustainability Award, given by Call2Recycle, Inc earlier this month. This is the first award given to Midland by Call2Recycle, by taking part in their battery recycling program which has diverted nearly 12 million pounds of batteries from landfills since 1994.

The award was presented to Midland by Tim Warren of Call2Recycle, and received by Midland President, Dan Devling. Also on hand from Midland to receive the award were Temple Hundley, Production Supervisor, and Dan Schwartz, COO.

“Midland Radio Corporation is setting a powerful example for environmental sustainability by helping divert hazardous materials away from local landfills,” said Carl Smith, CEO & President of Call2Recycle, Inc.

“Midland Radio makes a wide range of consumer electronic products which run on Alkaline, Ni-MH, Ni-Cd and Li Ion power sources. We do everything we can to help protect the environment,” said Terry Mears, Marketing Director at Midland. “From the Solar Panels on our roof to the various recycling programs, Midland Radio is doing its part to sustain and protect our community and those of our consumers,” added Mr. Mears.

Through Midland’s battery recycling efforts, the company collected nearly 3.5 Metric Tons of batteries and sent them to Call2Recycle’s collection facility then on to process and recovery centers.
