What in the world are we going to be doing?

Encuentro Missions provides mission opportunities for teens and families. For the past 50 years, we have facilitated trips in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Peru. Over 250,000 students have participated, resulting in more than 2 million children and adults hearing the Gospel message through Encuentro events.

We will be gathering at the Sendas Campus in Costa Rica with around 200 other Nazarene students and families from churches across the USA Canada region. Each day we will all be sent out to different churches we are partnering with to participate in various projects city-wide. We will be partnering with a local church in the heart of San Jose, Costa Rica. Our trip will be equal parts cultural experience, work and witness, and compassionate ministries projects. We are partnering with Juan Jose, a local pastor who desires to renovate parts of his church and also the neighborhood park just down the street. This is a Nazarene church located in the slums of San Jose. We also hope to participate in a sports camp of VBS for the multitude of kids that live in this area of the city.

How much will it cost?

This mission tripwill cost $1400. There is a non-refundable $200 due with your individual consent form by Nov. 30th to reserve your spot. Here is to payment plan for this trip:

NOVEMBER 30th- $200 (form due also)

MARCH 29th-$500 due

JUNE 28th- Final $700 due

Fundraisers can help pay for the trip. The following are ways in which you or your student can pay for this trip.

1)Send fund raising letters – Many times, friends and family members would like to help in the noble effort of providing relief to those who are less fortunate. Donors will be able to write all donations off on their taxes! A sample fundraiser letter is enclosed. Be sure to edit the letter so that it is appropriate to our specific trip.

2)Take on a part-time job. I know that your lives are busy enough but what extra curricular thing in your life can you give up to work 10 or 15 hours per week from now until we leave in July? A part- time job pays more than fundraisers and is guaranteed money.

3)Participate in your local church’s various fundraisers as available.

Who is this trip for?

This trip is for High School students who are a part of the Oklahoma District NYI. You must be a committed follower of Christ and be capable of working on a team for the glory of God.

Where will we be staying?

We will be staying in dorms at Seminario Nazareno De Las Americas inSan Jose, Costa Rica. This is a Nazarene Seminary that is safe and will be housing around 200 students from around the USA/Canada region that week. There will be bunk beds in each room for people to sleep on.

What will I need to bring?

We will supply a packing list to those who are going prior to the trip.

Can I sign up late?

Yes, but there will be a late fee. Contact Pastor David if this is the case.

In consideration for my participation on the MISSION TRIP TO COSTA RICA or GUATEMALA, I, the undersigned, covenant and agree with ENCUENTRO INC. not to commence or prosecute, and to hold harmless ENCUENTRO INC. in the event of commencement or prosecution of, any demand, claim, action, suit or proceeding which may be asserted against it with respect to any loss of property, damage to property, personal/bodily injury, harm or illness including death that may come to me while engaged in the activities of the above named Event taking place on June 30-July 7, 2018 or July 7-14, 2018 while participating or while on the property of ENCUENTRO INC. during any activity relating to this event. This waiver applies to any harm, injury or illness that is the result of negligence by any party or intentional acts of other participants or volunteers at the Event or that is the result of negligence by ENCUENTRO INC. or any of its agents, employees, assigns, volunteers or other representatives in any other manner. ALCOHOL & DRUG POLICY

By signing, the undersigned acknowledges that (1)ENCUENTRO INC. does not allow the possession or the use of any form of drugs or alcohol by anyone during its activities; (2) if anyone participating in this activity is caught possessing or using drugs or alcohol during such participation,will be asked to leave the team and go home at their own expense; (3) any violation of law resulting from such possession or use will be reported to law enforcement; and (4) any fines or legal actions will be the responsibility of the participant.
