Rehab and Wellness

  • Healthy Living Program399 members

The Healthy Living Program at the McLeanWellnessCenteroffers a unique combination of fitness options for the older adult. Members using the fitness gym receive personalized exercise programs developed by physical therapist. The warm water pool offers aquatic classes for all ability levels classes as well as free time for individual or post-therapy exercise. In January 2008 the HLP expanded offering exercise classes to residents at Farmington Woods.

  • Outpatient Rehab714 clients

Outpatient serves a diverse group of patients with a broad range of conditions. Patients come to the McLeanOutpatientCenter to rehabilitate from an illness, surgery to reverse the effects of aging. Many patients receive a portion of their treatment in our WellnessCenter including in the warm water therapy pool. The OP Center has a number of specialty programs forbalance issues, breast cancer patients, senior drivers, clients with low vision. Our newest program, Keeping in the Game, is targeted for golfers 50+ in age who want to rehabilitate not compensate so they may play their best and continue to enjoy the game.

  • Post Acute510 patients

This 30 bed unit in the HealthCenter helps many patients recover after a hospitalization with intensive therapy and skilled nursing care. If you know you’ll be having surgery, call McLeanto learn about the program.

  • Sorenson Center226 clients

Clients receive adaptive equipment for sight and hearing. The Center also funds new programs to keep people safe in their homes including the creation of the Low Vision Rehab Program.

Services for Those Living in the Community

  • McLeanHome Care1,274 patients

McLean Home Care was recently recognized as being in the top 25% of visiting nursing agencies in the nation and is ranked number one in the area in keeping patients in their homes after an illness. Our patients are less likely to be hospitalized when utilizing our home care than with any other agency in the area. McLean home Care serves patients in the FarmingtonValley through West Hartford with skilled nursing, therapy, aides, and emergency response systems.

  • McLean Hospice110 patients

McLean Hospiceis dedicated to improving the comfort of patients and their families as they journey through the end-of-life. The McLean Hospice team prides itself on crating order out of chaos. Calling McLean hospice early can be an indication of hope-for satisfying days, fear-free nights and the richness of time together surrounded b a supportive team. Most patients stay in their homes. In addition, McLean Hospice cares for patients residing in assisted living and nursing home facilities.

  • Adult Day Center91 clients

The AdultDayCenter helps families keep their loved ones at home offering a full medical model program with staff support for caregivers. Clients come one to five days a week for activities, their main meal, medications, bathing and companionship. Local transportation is offered.

  • Meals-on-Wheels210 clients

More than 135 volunteers deliver two meals a day to residents of Simsbury, Avon, Canton, Granby and East Granby weekdays. More than 30% pay on a sliding scale. The program gives nutrition, companionship and a safety check for some of our neighbors most in need. Volunteers are needed to drive a route once or twice a month.

McLean’s campus is a busy place with many scheduled programs to stimulate, engage and entertain. Savor excellent dining options in the Village restaurant, the Health Center Pfirman Room or the Senator’s Starbucks café. Shop at the AuxiliaryGift Shop. Treat yourself at two beauty salons or to a massage. Worship or meditate in the Carling Chapel. Stay fit in the wellness center and warm water poll or Village exercise room. Get close to nature on the campus of one hundred and twenty acres of walks, gardens, patios and the greenhouse. Schedule medical appointments on campus with our doctors, dentist or podiatrist. Choose from four levels of fully accessible residences:

  • McLeanVillage105 residents

Residents live independently in cottages and apartments enjoying an active lifestyle with priority access to all McLeanservices.

  • The Robinson29residents

The Robinson offers both Assisted Living and supportive housing in a small neighborhood in the HealthCenter with priority access to all McLean services. The new Assisted Living Program provides medical care for those who need help with tasks of daily living like dressing and bathing but do not need round-the-clock skilled nursing. Often people choose the program once they no longer want to live alone, manage a home and start to feel unsafe.

  • McLean Home124 residents

Residents receive long term skilled care in four neighborhoods in the HealthCenter from highly engaged staff. People say “it just feels different at McLean.” McLean is recognized as a statewide leader in person centered care.

Volunteers

379 volunteers donated more than 3,390 hours driving Meals-on-Wheels, running the Auxiliary Gift Shop and its activities for residents, assisting residents and staff, organizing the golf tournament for hospice, providing specialized support for hospice families, and much more to help McLean meet its mission.

McLean Game Refuge

The Game Refuge launched its first public campaign to Save Trout Pond, the jewel in the crown of the 4,410 acre preserve in Simsbury, Canton and Granby.
