Welcome to Carswell’s Café! For your final project, you will choose two appetizers or one main dish. Some of the projects may be done in small groups, but others are independent. Every single student is required to verbally present their project on Thursday. This project counts as two major grades!

Appetizers: Please select two

1. Create a newspaper article about one of the events in the story. For example, you could cover the events of Maniac untying Cobble’s Knot. The article should be at least one page double spaced.

2. Create a map of the West and East Ends. Illustrate and label all the various landmarks in the book. Your map must be neat and colorful.

3. Design a new book cover for the book. Your illustration should be colorful and neat.

4. Create a song, rap, or poem about the events or one of the themes in the novel.

5. Make a list of at least ten unanswered questions you still have after finishing the novel. Be prepared to lead a class discussion with your questions.

6. Make an acrostic using three of the character’s first and last names. Your sentences should be eight words or more and describe the events of the story, as well as be written in your own words. Use at least three graphics or pictures to enhance the acrostic.

Main course: Please select one

1. Make a poster board-sized collage for the book. You may use clip art, drawings, or bits from a magazine.

2. Choose three characters in the novel and two paragraphs about each character predicting his or her future as a teenager/adult. Be sure to support your predictions with evidence from the book. Finally, produce an illustration for each character.

3. Create a skit based on one of the incidents in the novel. You should include props and costumes and your lines should be memorized. You must submit a typed script

with your presentation. The presentation should be at least three minutes long!

4. Design a movie poster for the novel. Your poster should include reviews of the movie and actors who would play the characters. Along with your poster, you should create a thirty second radio commercial.

5. Write a sequel to the novel. Your sequel should be at least two pages double-spaced and typed.

6. Create a cereal box for the book. The box must include a brief summary of the events along with a brief overview of the author. Also, you should include games and a colorful design. (Examples: Maniac Munchies, Beale Bites)

7. Create an Oprah-style interview with one or more of the characters. You should create a script for your talk show and submit it with your presentation. Your presentation should be memorized and include props.
