Man Alive! 2007 - ART EXHIBITION

“A great man in my life is …….” - Great Artwork to be viewed by all!

Man Alive! 2007 is a festival to celebrate the positive contribution by men in our community, and promote men’s health and well-being. The event will take place on Sunday 18th March 2007 (Semaphore Foreshore Reserve) and we would like to hear about men who have made a significant impact in the lives of others without seeking recognition.

We invite you to paint a picture of an important man in your life or a man who has made the community a better place for you to live in by his positive actions. Alternatively, the picture could be of an image that is symbolic of a special quality about this man. A brief statement will be needed too – “A great man in my life is …… because he …….”.

The artwork will be displayed in an exhibition leading up to the Man Alive! 2007 festival, acknowledging the positive contribution and difference these men have made!

The purpose of the Exhibition is to :

  • Increase community awareness about the Man Alive! Festival
  • Promote artwork from multicultural artists
  • Generate opportunities to promote the health and well being of men

Process

The Man Alive! 2007 Planning Committee will organize an exhibition date in February or March 2007.

We invite artists to submit 1 or 2 pieces of artwork (and brief description) of men who have been a positive influence in their lives and/or contribute positively through their action to the community. It could be about a brother, uncle, father, coach, teacher, volunteer, friend – any male person who has helped – through inspiration, encouragement, support, commitment and application to improving the quality of life for others.

If artists want to sell their work each piece will require an accompanying price tag for the exhibition. The planning committee will cover the costs of the exhibition.

Artwork needs to be completed by 5.00 pm Friday 2nd February 2007 and a representative from the planning committee will inform the artists of the exhibition details. Artists are encouraged to attend the exhibition.

  • Every effort will be made to keep the artwork safe but the organizers will not be responsible for artwork that is lost or damaged.

Consent will be sought to make digital copies of artwork submitted for future (not for profit) promotion, resource development and reporting purposes, related to men’s health.

If consent is received, digital copies of the artwork can be used by the organizers, and may be published as part of a Man Alive! 2007 Report, and in other (NOT FOR PROFIT) men’s health promotion initiatives (eg. CD ROMs, DVD, calendars, websites etc.). Artists will be given acknowledgement for their work in any future publications.
