M. Razip Selamat Is Associate Professor in Civil Engineeringin the School of Civil Engineering

M. Razip Selamat is Associate Professor in Civil Engineeringin the School of Civil Engineering. He received B.S. and M. Eng., both in Civil Engineering, from University of Louisville, USA, in 1985 and 1986 respectively. He also obtained Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from University of Queensland, Australia in 1995.

Dr Selamat’s specializations and researches have beenassociated with Geotechnical Engineering;Slope Stability;Ground Vibrations due to Traffic, Piling, and Blasts;Waste Consolidation and Settlement;and Rock Mechanics.

Some examples of his past research titles are Study of Piling Vibrations, Theoretical Elaboration of Waste Consolidation and Settlement, The Effect of Blast Vibrations on the Stability of Rock Slopes in Open Pit Mines in Australia and Africa, Rock Mechanicsof Kinta Valley Limestone and Stability of the Outcrops, Stability of Slopes incorporating Ground Vibrations, and Stability of Rock Cut by Blasting. He has published in international journals and presented research findings in conferences in the country and abroad. Currently, he pursues topics on Piling Vibrations, Volume Change of Disposed Waste, and Increase in Pile Strength over Time after Driving.

Dr Selamat is a Professional Engineer in Malaysia and has taken part in almost 100 consultancy engagementsin20 years of service.
