An abstract of our business plan

We intend to establish a K–12 Sikh ethos school on 10 acres of land in the north-west precinct growth centre of Sydney at Rouse Hill, NSW 2155, near the new Cudgegong metro train station. The location for the proposed school is surrounded by the developing suburbs of The Ponds, Kellyville, Parklea, Schofields and Stanhope where majority of Sikh and Indian community in Sydney currently lives or plans to settle in near future. It will operate as a not-for-profit charitable organisation to be the first Australian Sikh faith or Indian school.

Our state-of-the-art fully equipped modern and flexible classrooms will have visual electronic boards and movable walls to create 21st century learning spaces. Our students will have the latest electronic gadgets that can dock to a range of settings on the floor as well as access to high-speed Wi-Fi so they can connect to internet from anywhere in the premises. New collaborative technologies will include a touch screen to modify and share documents, a telepresence for high-definition video conferencing and purpose-built project and design space, as well as a sanctuary space with a focus on health and wellbeing.

We strive to achieve exceedingly high, consistent academic results in a quality educational environment, inculcating the highest moral and spiritual values into the life of each student. We will strive to better the academic results currently achieved by NSW selective schools. These will be complemented with extensive sporting facilities and a fully equipped gymnasium. We will run an extensive sports program to increase the prowess of our students so that they can be selected in the state and national sporting teams.

The school will be managed professionally by engaging mixed-race fully qualified faculty and professionals, following ethical, equal opportunity principles, overseen by the school board and by the schoolgoverningcouncil. We will engage consultants to undertake performance reviews of the senior management team, to review our educational programs and all aspects of student life.

This multicultural school, while supporting Sikh ethos, will integrate children from all communities and faiths into the school program to achieve cultural diversity and social cohesion. There is enormous support for this school, as all funds raised have been donated by the community.

Serving the Sydney metropolitan area, the school will cater for primary school students (K-6) during the initial phase, eventually expanding to Years 7-12 classes. There will also be a childcare centre and before/after school care facilities. The school hall will accommodate Gurdwara Sahib (the Sikh Temple), to help teach human and Sikh values to the students. The school will build hostel facilities to cater to regional Australian and overseas demand. We will have anactive and involved parents program, a religious teacher-training college and unique facilities for seniors inculcating human values in our students.

We expect to start construction of our first building in 2016 with completion expected in 2017, when Gurdwara Sahib can start functioning in the school hall. This Gurdwara Sahib will be used by the students during school hours to learn Sikhi. Rest of the community can use it out of school hours. NSW Department of Education formalities to sign off the building etc. will be completed in 2017for primary classes to begin from 2018/19.

This building is expected to cost approximately $2.2M. The school currently has about $500,000 available for use. We need to raise a further $1.7M for the first building.

We expect to generate employment opportunities for the local community; about 300 positions during the construction phase, and about 200 positions after completion. Funding for the school shall be raised through charitable donations, government grants, gifts, trusts, sponsorships, tuition fees, facilities hire and sales. Construction of other six buildings will be undertaken in future.

Every dollar raised by the school, including from Gurdwara activities, will be invested for the benefit of our future generations. Please donate generously to bring this project of national significance to fruition.
