Welcome: SAC Chair – Mrs. LaPaglia welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Minutes:October 26th, 2016– approved

Social/Emotional Learning: Mrs. Berrieum discussed the district initiative. We are a pilot school. 100 schools in the district have been chosen to pilot the program. The following are goals we need to ensure are being addressed in our school:

Decrease student tardies

Increase student success and celebrations

Increase parent involvement

Our PTO has been doing quite a bit this school year to get more parents involved.

BCPS Calendar Option: The School Board has decided upon two options for the 2017-2018 calendars.

SIP - Attendance Plan: Shared our Attendance Plan, which is documented in our SIP Plan (BEST Practice #2)

Plans are in place within the school when students are tardy more than 5 times per quarter, have more than 3 unexcused absences, and more than 5 excused absences per quarter.

BPIE:Mr. Thornberry spoke about the Best Practices in Inclusion Education, which is taking students with disabilities and including them in general education classrooms. We rated ourselves with 34 indicators. The rating scale consisted of not yet, beginning, partial, and fully. We rated ourselves as beginning in 2 areas:

  1. MTSS (Multi-Tiered Support System) Indicator #20 – We plan to conduct hot labs and monthly trainings on BASIS for the teachers.
  2. General and Special Education teachers will utilize collaborative planning time: Indicator #28 – Primary teachers conduct PLCs on Tuesday afternoons and Intermediate teachers conduct their PLCs on Thursday afternoons. Teachers have also begun to meet with their teams on Wednesday afternoons to discuss possible students who may need to be placed in RTI.

  • Boundary Committee discussion with nominations.
  • Continuation of Anti-Bullying policy.
  • Young Lives Matter Program for middle and high school students to be able to discuss topics such as politics.
