Grievance Procedures

Students may file a Grievance:

  • If complaint is not satisfactorily resolved within TEN class days
  • If the student is not satisfied or disagrees with the resolution of a Incident Report, Complaint OR hearing

Certified Return Receipt Mail AND first class mail will notify student and parental authority (if student is non-emancipated) of the resolution of the Grievance.

  1. Dean of Students ~ discuss the problem with the student.
  2. Dean of Instruction; if involving faculty ~ discuss the problem with the student.
  3. Give student a Grievance form (or tell him/her where they may be obtained).
  • The student will be considered causing an undue delay if a form is picked up and not returned within TEN class days.
  • In this case, the process will have to start over by submitting a new form which voids the other one.
  1. If a hearing is not deemed necessary, the Dean(s) will investigate the allegations/problem and inform the student of the determination made by administration within TEN class days of the hearing.

OR

  1. The Deans or designee will schedule a Hearing, if needed or if requested by the student.
  • A hearing must be scheduled within TEN class days of receiving the Grievance.
  • If hearing is scheduled, follow hearing procedures
  1. Inform the student of the results of the hearing or determination made by committee within TEN class days of the hearing.
  • Notification is done by first class and Certified Return Receipt.
  • Dean’s copy of letter should be kept in the Complaint/Grievance Book with the Certified Mail Receipt stapled to top/back of letter.
  • Staple green return card to back of letter with receipt when it is returned to College.
  1. If the student makes contact and is still not satisfied with the results, he/she may appeal to the President of the College as an absolute last resort.
  2. Student will be told that the Decision of the President is final.
