HANZA 5thANNUAL CONFERENCE

Carmel Hurst recorded the following notes of the conference:

1. Discussion paper – by Shirley Anderson, President

Beris reminded us that today was the exact anniversary of our first National Conference held in Melbourne with delegates from around Australia, many of whom are still with us and members of HANZA.

A review of those proceedings reveals that we are still pursuing much the same goals for Homeshare and that we have been very successful in many areas.

The draft resolutions from this conference were:

Resolve to pursue development of Homeshare programs in each state and territory

Resolve to establish Homeshare Australia

Resolve to seek Commonwealth and state funding and resolve to get Homeshare recognised as a service type.

It is gratifying to note how well we have succeeded in these resolutions.

1. Discussion paper

This paper reports on the upcoming 4th World Homeshare congress to be held in Melbourne in November 2015. We at HANZA are all excited at this challenge and committed to making it a success.

The paper outlines the areas in which the HANZA committee is at work. We are gratified to be able to report that we have acquired funding to the tune of $10,000 to help with the expenses. We have engaged the services of a graphic designer to give us a conference logo and we are very pleased with the result. In addition we have employed a conference manager to make sure all goes well and nothing is forgotten.

1. Discussion paper

Paper 3 outlines the role we hope members will play in the congress:

To encourage all members of HANZA to attend as well as all “movers and shakers” in your area of influence.

To start seeking funds to come to the Congress.

To consider presenting a paper at the congress and a display stand at our mini expo.

To inform us of any language skills you have that might be useful.
