There are multiple ways you can help!

One option to help with Latin America Day is to donate some essential items to help make the day a success. We would gladly accept donations of the following items by March 21:

Another option to help with Latin America Day is to assist teachers with the day itself. Please read the descriptions below for each time slot for more specific information. If one of the descriptions sounds appealing, please write your name and email next your desired time. Mr. Kirby will contact you via email to verify your participation.

Food Day Prep and Clean up: During this part of the day, you will help set-up and serve food for Latin America Day in your child’s Team Science Lab. During this time, you will also help monitor students and enjoy time with them as students watch “The Road to El Dorado”.

Afternoon Recreational Games/Festivities: During this part of the day, you will help set-up, monitor, and lead students through a Latin American game like Limbo and Pok-a-Tok. For limbo, parent volunteers will take turns holding the limbo sticks and leading the game. This event will take place near the basketball courts outside of the gym. For Pok-a-Tok, parents will help monitor and cheer for students as they play the game.

Legal Volunteer Information You Must Complete before Volunteering for Latin America Day

If you are interested in volunteering at River Trail for Latin America Day, please follow the steps below:

1. Download, print, and fill out the “Volunteer Safety Information Form” found on the River Trail Website (Parents  Volunteers).

2. Take the online child abuse reporting training (approximately 10 minutes) at When completed, please print the certificate of completion.

3. Bring both of the above documents to the attention of Officer Lawton Benjamin in the RTMS front office when you next come to school. Your child may also deliver these to the front office. Please do so before March 28th. For privacy, you may want to put your documents in a sealed envelope.
