In the name of God Amen the fowerth daye of September Anno domino 1638 and in the fowerteenth yeare of the Raigne of our Sovraign Lord Charles by the grace of god of England Scotland France and Ireland Kinge defender of the faith etc of Thomas Farmer of Pirton in the Countie of herts yeoman being weake in bodye but of good and p[er]fect memory doe make and ordayne this my last will and testam[ent] in manner and forme following first and principally I bequeath my soule to almighty god who gave it me trusting and unfaynedly beleeveing by faith in the death and passion of Christ Jesus my along saviour & redeemer to have release and pardon of all my synnes and to be p[ar]taker of the kingdom of glory and for my body I comytt it to the earth to burryed in such seemely sort as my executa[r] hereafter named shall thinke fitt and for my worldly goods I doe dispose of them in mann[er] & forme followeinge

Item I give & bequeath unto Elizabeth my Wyef one bushell wheat & one bushell of mault Item I give unto the said Elizabeth my wyef all the household stuffe wich she brought me & I had with her (that is to saye) one fether Bedd one Boulster one coverlett two pewter platters one paire of sheete & one chest Item I give unto Thomas Farmer my eldest sone one mault myll one Bushell & one salting troffe Item I give unto Susan Ffarmer my Grandchild the Daughter of my sone Thomas Ten shillings of currant English money Item I give unto Anne my Daughter nowe the wife of Thomas Dixe twelve pence of currant English money Item I give unto my Grandchild the Daughter of the said Anne my daughter sixe shillinge & eight pense of currant Englishe money Item I give unto the poore people of the towne & parishe of Pirton sixe shillings & eight pence of currant Englishe money to be distributed to them upon the daye of my burriall as my executo[r] shall thinke fytt all the rest of my good & chatteles my Detts beying payed my legacies also beying payed & this my last will in all things [per]formed I give & bequeath unto John Ffarmer my sonne whome I make my sole egecute[r] of this my last will & testam[ent] In wittnes wherof I the said Thomas Ffarmer have hereunto putt my hand & seale the daye & yeare first above written.
