WiFi Policy
Purpose
FREE Wireless Internet access is available in the Library building toanyone who has the necessary devices and software. The Librarymakes the Internet available to the public to fulfillour mission to provide educational and informational services to the entire community.
Limitations and Disclaimers
- Users are expected to comply with the Library’sInternet Use Policy.
- Most WiFi enabled equipment will be compatible. The Library makes no guarantees of compatibility of a user’s hardware with the Library’s network.
- The Library cannot guarantee that the service will be available at any specific time or that you will be able to make a wireless connection. Signal strength varies within the building.
- The Library wireless network is an open network and not secure. The Library cannot guarantee the safety of your computer or device’s communication across its wireless network. Users agree to access the Internet at their own risk.
- The Library cannot guarantee internet speed or the quality of the connection.
- Library staff members are not able to provide technical assistance and are not allowed to configure devices or provide assistance connecting to the wireless network. Please contact the manufacturer of your device or software if you need assistance.
- The Library’s wireless network is not meant to be used as a primary network connection for individual Library customer use. Customers are expected to avoid applications that will use large amounts of network bandwidth. Examples would include servers and file-sharing applications.
- Device users must be considerate of nearby patrons and refrain from excessive noise including the playing of music on the device without the use of patron provided headphones. Patrons should also mute all systems if they are not using headphones. Patrons not adhering to this policy may be asked to leave the Library.
- Users may connect their wireless devices to any available electrical outlet provided the cord(s) do not create a hazard. Library staff shall have the authority to determine what constitutes a hazard. Patrons may not unplug Library equipment. Please charge your battery before coming to the Library as the Library cannot guarantee that there will be an outlet available in the Library for your use.
