THE ROLE
We have two opportunities to join our Large Loss team - who are responsible for managing a multi-million pound portfolio of high value, complex and sensitive PI claims, including catastrophic losses. You will use your extensive knowledge of technical issues to investigate and resolve these cases, ensuring they are appropriately reserved and settled at optimum cost. For the more senior role you will have some experience of handling claims of the utmost severity, including amputations, significant spinal injury and traumatic brain injury.
As someone who thrives in a busy environment, you will proactively develop and apply claims strategies in order to drive down the length of the ‘claims lifecycle’, and achieve the best outcome in terms of indemnity spend – so your ability to investigate and assess liability, your knowledge of pre and post litigation procedures and your aptitude in assessing significant PI damages are key to your success in this role.
You will have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge by attending conferences and seminars on key market topics as well as provide coaching and mentoring support to others within the organisation to ensure sharing of knowledge and best practice. As a claims expert, you will assist in delivering technical guidance for the wider claims function to enable them to make optimal decisions on their cases.
You will also play a big part in the referral and peer review process for complex and potentially complex claims, and take the lead on developing change solutions from identifying threats and opportunities in the market. Liaising with other areas of the business including Underwriters and Reinsurers, you will be able to utilise your natural ability to develop strong working relationships to manage key stakeholders..
We are looking for you to have experience of working in a large loss environment or legal practice with a focus on personal injury. A motor background is desirable but we will consider candidates from a casualty background with appropriate experience in handling high value injury claims.
The senior role would suit a Solicitor, Legal Executive or paralegal with experience of working on large loss or catastrophic injury claims. The role handling claims up to £200,000 would suit a paralegal looking to gain in-house Personal Injury experience.
