Agenda item 1 / SDAC Report
Zak Sinbergattended the Superintendent’s District Advisory Council meeting on behalf of Lake Park. He provided a summary of the topics discussed including but not limited to (1) the Social Media Safety and Substance Abuse videos made by CCPS that are available on the website, (2) Innovation Competition at Hodges, (3) May 20th STEAM Competition, (4) 7th grade college career workshop, (5) Cambridge Program, and (6) Keep Learning Alive Summer Program.
AGENDA ITEM 2 / Funding Request for Science/SS Guided Readers – Vote Required
This topic required a vote and all SAC members present approved the proposal to spend $2,625.78 of SHRIMPR money towards the purchase of Science and Social Studies guided readers. These readers will support the SIP goal of “Rigor” and will increase the amount of non-fiction material for students. The topics chosen by Ms. Arcand are covered in the FSA testing and will assist 4th and 5th grade students meet science and social studies standards.
Ms. Arcand distributed a list to all SAC members of the books she would like to acquire to build out and enhance the Guided Reading program. It covered a variety of topics and will be used across the school from grades K to 5. In addition, many of the books come with an on-line lesson plan to help the teachers.
LPE received $2,625.00 in SCHIMPR monies on 4/25/17 from the State of Florida to total $2,667.02 in SCHIMPR. There is also a balance of $2,004.98 in SCHREC monies on the Balance Sheet.
AGENDA ITEM 3 / Summer Renovations
  • Replacing the Air Conditioning chillers which are old and do not work properly; there will not be A/C at school until August 1, 2017.
  • Replacing CVC tiles in the classrooms that were installed incorrectly.
  • Tree removal and replacement mainly in the car line area as well as some irrigation work.

AGENDA ITEM 4 / Data Review
  • Finally wrapping up 6 weeks’ worth of testing; 100% of students in 3rd to 5th have been tested with the exception of 1 student in science.
  • Waiting for the 3rd grade ELA/ESA scores which determine if students can advance to 4th grade.
  • Will get the rest of school scores in early/mid-July.
  • FL Legislation might remove the VAM score as it is too subjective.
  • School Board has been discussing whether or not there is too much testing and the fact it takes away from instruction.

OPEN / Staff Changes:
  • Mrs. Mamone will be going to Palmetto Elementary next year and received a promotion to be the Math/Science Coordinator.
  • Mrs. Moran will be teaching 7th grade Life Science at Golden Gate Middle School.
  • Mrs. Guite will joining Coach V as a PE teacher 3 days a week. She will spend the other 2 days at Laurel Oak.
  • George Badillo will be joining LPE from Golden Gate Elementary; he took over for Ms. Marshall’s class part of the first semester.
  • Nancy Garousi will be teaching 3rd grade and will be joining from Tommy Barfield Elementary.
Mr. Klein was curious if Reading Counts could be done at home. Mr. Marker to check on this in the Fall.
