.

2)REVISED QUALIFICATION CRITERIA WAG LEVEL 1 -3

I (Sherri) have been tasked with running MAG and WAG until the end of the 3rd term 2012 and as such have had a look at the qualification criteria for the Zone competition.

After two of the bigger club competitions I have assessed the scores and have made the following decisions.

-All WAG level 1-3 gymnasts who achieve a total of 35.50 will be permitted to attend the Zone Competition.

Our ultimate goal with KZN is to raise the standard but unfortunately we cannot do that if we do not encourage the gymnasts and grow the clubs.

In the past we have allowed the MAG gymnasts to travel on a total of 40.00 but have only sent a very small WAG team. I would like to see that we make the selection criteria across the two disciplines are similar.

The level 1-3 section is one of encouragement and motivation, and I feel that gymnasts are more motivated by being selected for the team and going to Zones where they only achieve a bronze than being excluded from the KZN team all together.

Parents of gymnasts are realistic and coaches can advise parents as to the gymnasts realistic placing at the Zone competition. It is then up to the parents, should they wish to send the gymnasts to the competition, but either way the gymnast feels like a winner!

See you all at the level 1-3 regional’s on the 1 September! Please make a note of the revised program which is due to follow shortly.

Kind Regards
