Call to Order

Jason Brockman called to order the monthly meeting of the KHBC Board at 7:00 PM at BIG.

Committee Updates

  • Finance - Rachel Carlson- Carly Prellwitz will be stepping in as Treasurer
  • All tournaments have been paid.
  • Statement will be coming out soon.

Outstanding

  • Mite ice wish list for BAHA ice to be provided to Brent at BAHA no later than Friday 10/17

Accomplishments

  • Tryout schedules adjusted and finalized
  • October practice schedules created and posted to the website
  • Locker Room information sent to each Rink for October (BIG and RIA)
  • Unused ice returned to BIG and RIA for October(several hours remain for sale, any unsold hours will be charged to the General Account as wasted ice)
  • District 6 game draws completed as of Saturday 10/11; game schedules expected to be finalized by 10/20

Short Term Upcoming Events

  • Brent (BAHA) to upload game schedules to the website once they are finalized
  • Ice draw is 10/25 - all travelingteams must send at leasttwo representatives - will draw from ice & etrain for the season
  • Brent (BAHA) will upload all practice schedules once the draw is completed
  • Renee/Sarah to return any unused ice after the draw to RIA (Brent returns BIG ice)
  • Renee/Sarah to work with the teams (all levels)and the City to determine outdoor ice schedule(s)

Long Term Planning

  • No later than Jan 1st, submit ice request to BIG/RIA for all summer programs
  • No later than April 1st, submit ice request to BIG/RIA for all fall clinics/tryouts
  • Renee will retain the ice coordinator responsibilities until Sarah is able to return from her leave.
  • Equipment - Garrett Smeltzer
  • All jerseys have been printed
  • Richfield patches will be finished this week.
  • Peewee and Bantam practice bins are out to teams.
  • Squirt Bins will be to teams this week if managers are on board, coaches have pucks.
  • Would like to get game socks and jerseys to squirt teams as soon as team managers are on board.
  • As soon as we pick up jerseys an email will be sent out regarding the service by Instant Replay sewing on STOP patches for those that need it.
  • Billing for jerseys will be sent to Rachel the first part of November so they can be added to monthly ice bills.

  • FaceBook- it was requested that Communications promote the organization more.

  • Tournaments are all set, gate fees paid, and hotels booked. 1 Bantam A hotel is left to book.

  • Golf Tournament– went well. 6 teams.
  • Heggie’s form will go out tomorrow.
  • Schwann’s Cares fundraiser. Power Point presentation from Craig.
  • Poinsettas- need to get the communications on line with it.
  • KHBC/RYHA are always looking for additional sponsors. We have a number of great sponsors, but can always use more. Thanks to:

  • Registration is under way. Live versus rostering dates. Waiver, birth certificate review, but don’t have to sit at Braemar.
  • Board members and coaches have to do background screening every 2 years. Minnesota Hockey safe sport volunteer thing.
  • BAHA– Jason Brockman
  • Jason did not attend BAHA. Mike B did. Kennedy did not play in most of our own BAHA tournaments. Jefferson was upset about it. They haven’t sold enough spots. 6 A teams. Ice all over the metro. $17,000 to be in the tournament. They aren’t changing Bloomington teams a gate fee, but we’ve already scheduled our tournaments.
  • No update on BIG improvements.
  • Concession contracts signed by Craig.
  • Etrain contract will be signed in next few days.

  • Minnesota Hockey has approved year-round hockey.
  • Check compliance on Conflict of Interest policy- Craig
  • Progressive penalties will give heads up at 2.
  • Home teams submit score sheets.
  • Unbalance schedule.
  • Westrom wants Bantam tryouts to start later because of Fall Festival.
  • Coaching clinics for D6 only will be scheduled and posted on D6 website- they’re filling up.
  • Ref gets top copy of score sheet for major.
  • Bloomington Girls proposal tabled until October meeting.
  • Squirts
  • Squirts may more to an unbalanced schedule to provide for competitive balance, with smaller associations playing like-size programs more frequently.
  • Squirts will not have a post-season tournament.
  • Mites - Jeff Smidt
  • Need Mites to get their registration in so #s are correct for buying ice, etc.
  • Fall clinic just started, with 64 skaters registered, including 13 new skaters.
  • Mites are requesting purchase of 150 KHBC/RYHA branded t-shirts at a cost of approximately $1,050.00. Discussion of approval process for purchases.
  • Mite jerseys are tending to run a bit small, and additional jerseys may need to be ordered.

  • Bloomington Girls – Edgar Madsen
  • Officially not having a 14U team- HS is keeping many. They’ll go to EP together.
  • Discussion of girls co-op agreement.
  • KHBC, JHBC and BGHC program leaders met with D6 representatives to discuss agreement terms.
  • D6 will not recognize BGHC as an association.
  • KHBC’s position is that the agreement, whatever its terms, must be reviewed each year prior to renewal, and that KHBC and JHBC will continue to host girls teams on alternate years.
