KGuard System Update Manual
In order to be compatible with the newest firmware, please make sure to update your smartphone/tablet application to the newest version to ensure the best performance when using KGuard products.
This manual is for models shown below:
Easy Link series
Easy Link Pro series
Mars Home series
Mars Pro series
In below procedure, you would be able to find the corresponding download link for each model. If you are not able to find the download link for your product please contact us for support.
Firmware upgrade procedure
**Caution**
Please note:
Ifyouupgrade tothenewer version offirmware, you would not be able todowngrade it tothe previous version.Incase of anyerrorintroducedduringtheupgradeprocess,the DVRwillbe bricked and would be nolonger usable.Please read the upgrade manual carefully before upgrade the device to avoid any error.
Theupgradingprocedure willtake around 5-8 minutes.DVR willbe turnedoffduring the upgradeprocess.Please donot turnoff the power or remove USB flash drive during the process.
※DVRwillrestartautomaticallyafterupdateiscompleted.
※Beforeyouupgradethedevice’sfirmware, pleasemakesureall thevideosontheHDDhavebeenbackup.
1.Before upgrading the firmware, you couldgototheURLbelow, selectyour productmodelnumber, anddownload the newest firmware:
- EL series (Including Easy Link and Easy Link Pro series):
- Mars Home series:
- Mars Pro series:
2.When you select the link, it will show the following picture. Please select “Saveas”.
3.Download the file and save it to thedesktop.
4.Systemwilldownloadthe firmware and you couldselect “Viewdownloads”toviewandtrackyourdownloads once it is completed.
5.Check your desktop and see if it is successfully saved. Unzip the file and you would see a “dvrupgrade” folder.
6.Pleaseinsert the USB flash drive (which contains the folder in step 5) to device’ USB port as shown in picture below
•There are 2 ways to control DVR: 1. USB mouse 2. Remote Control. Here we will use USB mouse to control the device as an example
7.Rightclick on the USBmousetobring up the OSDmenuandclick on “MainMenu”icon.
8.Enter theUSER name/PASSWORD (The default is admin/123456, you might have changed it to your own data, if so, please insert your own data). Once complete please click on the “Apply” button
9.You would then be directed to the main menu. Select “Advanced” as shown in below
10.Click “Update”
11.DVR will display message “Do not power-off.“ and “System Updating”
It will take about 5-8 minutes for the upgrade process to complete. Please do not remove the USB flash drive or turn off the power during the upgrade process. System will restart once the upgrade is completed.
12.Enter theUSER name/PASSWORD (The default is admin/123456, you might have changed it to your own data, if so, please insert your own data) Once complete please click on the “Apply”button
13.Right click on the USB mouse to bring up the OSD menu and click on “Main Menu” icon
14.Select“Advanced”
15.Select “Load Default” as shown in below picture
16.Click “All” to select all items
17.Click “Apply” and follow the instruction and click “OK” to continue
18.Click “Exit”
19.Select “Reboot” as shown in below picture
20.Click “OK” to restartthe DVR
21.DVR will display message “Restarting, please wait”. After the restart, the firmware upgrade is now completed.
22.Click “Main Menu” icon
23.Click“System”.
24.Click “General” to change the videoformat.
25.Select“NTSC” or “PAL” depending your local system format
26.Click“Apply”
27.Message will pop up and ask you if to restart the device. Click“OK”
28.Click“OK”
29.Click“OK”
30.DVR will display message “Restarting, Please wait”. After DVR restart, the setting is completed.
If there’s any question during the firmware upgrading process, please stop immediately. Contact our support team right away and let us know at which steps you have completed.
