Kendo Program for Kurashiki Week 2007

To celebrate 35th anniversary of sister city relationship between Kansas City, MO and City of Kurashiki in Japan, the end of this July, about five hundred Japanese people will come to Kansas City. They will stay Kansas City for one week from Wednesday, July 25 until July 31 to cultivate personal and cultural exchanges between two cities and two countries.

Kansas City Kendo Club will have a goodwill event to welcome thirty-four kendoka (kendoist) including five 7-Dan Sensei, three 6-Dan Sensei as well as many young students from City of Kurashiki on both Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29.

We would like to ask members of Midwest Kendo Federation as well as All United States Kendo Federation to attend and help this grass-roots exchange Kendo event successful.

Kata, National Anthem etc.)

1:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m. Godo Keiko

1) Basic Practice

2) Gokaku Keiko(Sparring)

3) Keiko with Senseis

(5-Dan or above: Motodachi)

3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Clean up and preparation for tomorrow

5:00 p.m. - Bus for Benjamin Ranch will leave from UMKC

and/or RockhurstCollege

6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Dinner and Rodeo at Benjamin Ranch

(Rodeo Demonstration will start 8:00p.m.)
