United Way of Saginaw County prepares for 2018 Award Cycle, continuing the focus on community outcomes and maximizing impact.

On Monday, January 9, 2017, nonprofit organizations serving Saginaw County residents will be able to apply for 2018 United Way program funding. As part of United Way’s Community Impact Strategy, any qualifying nonprofits seeking funding are encouraged to complete a Stage One application. All process information including timeline and application link will be available at

Since introducing the Community Impact Strategy in 2014, United Way board members, staff, community volunteers and local field experts have worked together to define community-driven goals within the three impact areas of health, education and financial stability. Once again, UWSC officials are encouraging current partners and new organizations to take advantage of this opportunity.

"Previous Community Conversations have identified Health, Education and Financial Stability as key areas needing focused investment in Saginaw County,” said Community Impact Co-Chair, Jim Cross.“Our 2018 Award Cycle will continue to highlight these three areas for nonprofit organizations to submit program proposals for funding consideration,” said Cross.

Two informational sessions will be held for anyone who has questions on the Community Impact Strategy process. Sessions will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10 and Thursday, January 12. Both sessions will take place in United Way’s Conference Room located on the 2nd floor at 100 South Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw. Interested organizations will have until Monday, February 6 to complete their Stage One application for each program seeking funding.

A donor’s investment to the community through United Way will continue to demonstrate how change is impacting the lives of others in our community. Through the Community Impact Strategy, the Community Change Team volunteers will ensure that programs receiving awards are capable of delivering the desired outcomes, are accountable and sustainable.

In 2014, United Way of Saginaw County introduced the community to their transformed allocations process, the Community Impact Strategy. The overall intent of the transition was to improve the living standards of those served; lessening their need for service.
