Position:Interest Rate Derivatives Quant, Associate Director

We are looking for a bright and creative mind to further strengthen ourfront office modeling and analytic supportto our Global interest rate business. The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside with tradersand work effectively with other quants. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in projects of asset classes other than interest rate derivatives as opportunity arises.

Position Description: The primary responsibilities will be in the area of interest derivatives and will include

-Developing pricing models and hedging analytics for existing and new products

-Developing FO analytics for curve marking, trade pricing, and risk monitoring

-Working with the trading desk to investigate valuation and hedging questions

-Enabling rapid new product introduction through tactical solutions

-Providing analytic contents in joint projects with risk management and technology groups

-Participating in developing models for asset classes other than interest rate derivatives as the opportunity arises

Position Qualifications

-Experienced withinterest rate curve construction methodologies; and rates, inflation and bond products pricing models

-Strong programming skills in C++/C++11. Familiar with Java, Python, or Perl a plus

-Strong analytical and problem solving skills

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a team player

-Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

-Prior front office experience is preferred, but applicants from other quantitative areas are also welcome

Education Qualifications: Ph.D degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Engineering, Physics, or other quantitative disciplines. Excellent candidate with Master’s degree will also be considered.

Global Banking and Markets, the Corporate and Investment Banking Division of Scotiabank, provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. The Global Capital Markets unit of Global Banking and Markets has credit derivative, fixed income, equity, foreign exchange, energy and precious metals sales and trading operations in Toronto, Calgary, New York, Mexico, London and the Far East.

Global Analytics and Financial Engineering is part of Global Capital Markets and is currently located in Toronto, New York, and London. We work closely with the trading and marketing desks to develop new product or specific transaction capability, which includes developing financial models, hedging strategies and analytics, as well asleading infrastructure projects for new business initiatives.
