Job Summary

To pro-actively work with customers to place them into sustainable employment. This will be achieved through; intensive job matching, delivery of pre-employability training, interview coaching, CV preparation, Job Application form support, setting up placements and sourcing vacancies. Through initial assessment or review appointments all Employment Consultants are expected to challenge poor behaviour, working with all cohort types to overcome the wide range of barriers a customer may present themselves with. Employment Consultants will have a variety of targets including; job starts, engagement levels, activity levels achieving minimum service levels, minimum performance levels and key performance indicators. Sustainability is vital and Employment Consultants will have target milestones throughout these 104 weeks (depending on the cohort type). As an Employment Consultant you will manage a caseload of customers as required by the company. Achieving sustainable jobs targets will be an essential aspect of this role.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with a caseload of customers to provide intensive job matching services that will actively support the customer in moving into sustainable employment,ongoing customer tracking for up to eighteen months to ensure sustainability payments
  • To achieve the following targets, you will be working with a caseload for potentially up to two years. Over that time particular focus must be on meeting performance targets for jobs starts, outcomes and sustainments (in line with DWP True MPL targets)
  • To complete a comprehensive and holistic assessment with the customer to ensure identification of all their barriers to employment and construct and agree a Back to Work Action Plan with the customer that includes three realistic job goals and the customers Anticipated Job Start Date (AJSD)
  • Spending one hour of each day as and when required telephone canvassing for live vacancies for customers closest to the job market. Recording employers contact details on a data base for all staff to access
  • Job matchingcustomer caseload with employment opportunitiesidentified through vacancy canvassing, ensuringfollow upcalls for all vacancies on a daily basis
  • Where necessary actively deliver Job Search Skillson a one-to-one or small group basis, provideadditional information and support on Job Search Skills including completion of C.V.’s, Interview Techniques and help with completing application forms
  • Due to the changing nature of the client group attached to the Work Programme, where necessary an expectation of ‘off-site’ visits will be in place for our non-engaging customers
  • Work with local third sector agencies and support networks that can give advice, support and practical help with specific personal barriers and issues that are faced by long-term unemployed individuals attending the provision.Such as homelessness, substance misuse and debt management. Referrals to signposting organisations should be appropriate to both the customer and the signposting organisation itself
  • Complete weekly and monthly documentationby using ManagementInformation Systems to ensure relevant caseload information isaccurately recorded in line with company policies and procedures
  • To work closely with the centre’s Business Manager to identify and action any opportunities for improvement within the role. Attend weekly / monthly performance reviews where personal targets will be discussed and agreed

Quality and Compliance Responsibilities

  • Fully adhere to all company quality improvement systems and procedures and be fully accountable to the Business Manager for their implementation
  • To improve the self-confidence of customers (by encouraging and valuing their contribution both collectively and individually), and establishing an atmosphere of trust and understanding
  • Ensuring all contract and Standguide administration is completed in a timely manner. Ensuring all data adheres to the Quality & Compliance standards required
  • To maintain, familiarise and continually update personal knowledge and understanding of the company P&P E-manual

Other Responsibilities

  • Where applicable, manage the centre petty cash floats and complete the company EPOS report and return to the finance department within agreed timescales
  • To be responsible and accountable for completing incidents in the accident book as they arise and liaising with the appointed person within the Centre to ensure that the first aid box is fully equipped and up to date and alerting the emergency services when appropriate
  • Be conversant and ensure full compliance of all company policies, procedures and statutory requirements with particular reference to Health & Safety (including Safeguarding), Equality / Diversity, ‘Access for All’, Discipline and Grievance
  • Ensure premises are kept in good order, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements
  • Be prepared to work at other locations / contracts to share good practice and cover absence as necessary
  • Prepare, deliver or participate in any appropriate learning or development programmes or courses as required by the company; this includes any staff meetings
  • To maintain continual professional development

  • Knowledge of external agencies e.g. Skills for Life, housing, benefit, substance abuse etc

  • Target driven to achieve the following targets. Working with a caseload for potentially up to two years. Over that time targets are to get 50% into employment, with a minimum of 39% still being in work at the six month stage, and 30% still in work at the one year stage.
