Job Purpose/Summary

To be part of a busy operations team at the Marie Curie Volunteering Operations Centre based in Pontypool. You will contribute by providing volunteer recruitment, marketing and communicationsresource to complement the delivery of a high quality operational support service for the charity. This will include developinginternal and external networks to promote volunteering and establishing positive partnerships and campaigns which will lead to the take up of volunteering opportunities across the country. This role also has a requirement to support operational management as needed.

Accountabilities (Duties & Responsibilities)

  • Provide volunteer recruitment support for local managers when required, offering tailored guidance and preparing insight-driven tailored action plans to meet agreed recruitment objectives
  • The design and production of inspiring promotional materials to assist managers in attracting volunteers in their community and monitor the success of these.
  • Take an active role in promotional events, displays and presentations to increase awareness of volunteering opportunities at Marie Curie, ensuring promotional materials are in relevant local languages and monitor the success of these.
  • To encourage defined groups of prospective volunteers to pursue opportunities with Marie Curie through information events, PR, online communications, and short-term trials, to create a diverse pipeline of fresh volunteers aligned with the charity’s strategic objectives
  • Support the wider Central Volunteering team by with new initiatives or programmes to attract or retain volunteers, alongside the Volunteering OperationsTeam Leader
  • To design, deliver and manage national volunteer recruitment campaigns to ensure that the volunteer resource requirements of internal stakeholder can be met.
  • Advertise and manage volunteering vacancies through third party online recruitment sites, using minimal spend to deliver positive outcomes for the charity
  • Proactively seek to enhance processes that affect the volunteer experience
  • Manage the content of web-based information systems that enable volunteers and staff to understand the volunteering programme at Marie Curie. Co-ordinate activity and updates to ensure details are accurately maintained on a continuous basis
  • Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the charity
  • Undertake regular market and competitor audits, highlighting key trends, threats, opportunities and issues
  • Provide support and cover for the Team leader as necessary, to ensure that operational needs are met on a consistent basis, as directed by the Volunteering Operations Manager
  • Deputise for the Volunteering Operations Manager, as appropriate
  • To undertake any other duties deemed appropriate by the Volunteering Operations Manager or Head of Volunteering
