Job Title:Community Lifestyle Trainer

Responsible To: Head of Development and Early Intervention

Salary Scale: NJC SP 24-28 (£24,020 - 26,962) (including Greater London Weighting)

Contract:Permanent

Hours of work: 37.5 (including some Saturdays and evenings)

Entitlements:5% employers pension contribution (Available after three months)

The Community Lifestyle Trainerwilldevelop and deliver innovative and impactful alcohol awareness and wider lifestyle focused interventions, campaigns, events, projects and training across HAGA’s areas of operation.

1.Community lifestyle improvement and training

1.1To plan, develop, coordinate and delivera programme of alcohol and wider lifestyle training, campaigns, events, projects and workshops.

1.2To conduct community consultation with residents using a range of techniques chosen to promote participation, and to collate, analyse and report on findings.

1.3To engage individuals and groups in a range of community settings.

1.4To screen individuals at events to identify risky health behaviours using evidence-based tools.

1.5 To offer alcohol and wider lifestyle brief interventions.

1.6 To refer people into alcohol and lifestyle support options and opportunities.

1.7To proactively identify new settings or organisations in which campaigns, events, projects and training could be conducted and build links into these settings.

1.8To ensure all paper and web-based records are up-to-date, securely stored and accurate.

1.9To monitor and evaluate ourinterventions, campaigns, events, projects and training.

1.10To draft and support the preparation of evaluation reports, proposals and other documents.

1.11To contribute to supporting volunteer and sessional rota in liaison with Line Manager to ensure that there is adequate staff and volunteer cover.

1.12To communicate regularly with other staff and volunteers via phone, emails, and face-to-face, ensuring they are up-to-date on project plans, supporting their work and appreciating their effort.

2.Professional

2.1To follow the administrative procedures of HAGA.

2.2To develop and maintain mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation of the work, in conjunction with management.

2.3To keep up to date paperwork and/or database records of all work undertaken in the format of support plans and service user’s case notes where appropriate.

2.4To provide written and verbal reports and conduct correspondence as requested by management.

2.5To make client referrals as part of an integrated service.

2.6To ensure that all documentation required by funders and commissioners is completed accurately and within the timeframe requested.

2.7To collect statistical and monitoring information with particular focus on quality standards and in line with service level agreements.

2.8To adhere to Safeguarding of Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults policies and procedures and report any concerns to your line manager or senior manager, sharing HAGA’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

2.9To ensure the maintenance of a high standard of Health and Safety at all times in line with both HAGA procedure, and to report all accidents/incidents, which take place both verbally to manager and, on the standard forms.

2.10To ensure service-user and organisational confidentiality as per agreed agency policy.

3.Personnel & Training

3.1To attend and contribute to internal and external meetings, and group and individual supervision as requested by line manager.

3.2To identify training needs and undertake "in-house" and external training as requested and approved by line manager.

3.3To develop one’s own professional growth with input from line manager.

3.4To ensure that all requests for leave and working arrangements are discussed with the line manager in advance, and report/certify all sickness as appropriate.

4.Liaison and Communication

4.1To communicate effectively with colleagues, and all other professionals and service users.

4.2To be available for advice and consultation to other statutory and voluntary agency staff, and work cooperatively to develop effective responses.

4.3To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and post as specified by your line manager.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent accredited course

  • Experience of working in community-based settings
  • Alcohol Learning Centre e-IBA course completed

  • Understanding and knowledge of alcohol and wider healthy improvement areas, and a passion to learn more
  • Motivational Interviewing experience and/or training
  • Robust understanding of safeguarding
