JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Commercial Manager

Responsible to:Director of Business Operations

Responsible for:Shop Managers and Drivers

Hours:37 per week with some flexibility required

Rate of Pay:£25,000 per annum

Main purpose of job:

  • To provide strategic and innovative management and development of Prama’s commercial outlets in line with the Business Plan
  • To generate and maximise sales and effectively manage expenditure
  • To lead and develop staff and volunteers to drive performance and results
  • To positively promote the Prama brand within the scope of the role

Key tasks:

Strategic

  1. Develop and maintain an operational strategy for all commercial outlets
  2. Undertake research and analysis of additional commercial opportunities
  3. Implement and develop approved changes/opportunities
  4. Monitor commercial performance in line with targets
  5. Maintain an active awareness of relevant commercial trends to inform future plans

Management

  1. Recruit, lead, support and develop Shop Managers
  2. Ensure all shops/outlets are adequately staffed at all times
  3. Manage drivers and oversee distribution and the collection/delivery service
  4. Lead by example and engender a facilitative and inclusive management style
  5. Promote and maintain productive and collaborative working relations with and between retail staff and volunteers
  6. Encourage staff to maximise their potential and manage performance issues
  7. Lead effective and engaging monthly team meetings
  8. Agree, implement and manage performance and budgetary targets

General

  1. Demonstrate and instil an ethos of customer service excellence
  2. Provide effective communication links between retail staff and head office
  3. Provide regular and timely reports to head office and act upon anomalies or unmet targets
  4. Work with Shop Managers to improve and implement efficient procedures, including merchandising, stock control and customer service
  5. Ensure shops are effectively stocked from appropriate sources
  6. Manage inter-shop stock rotation to maximise the return on products
  7. Provide management cover for staff absences if required
  8. Ensure the highest standard of window and shop floor displays are achieved
  9. Ensure staff are informed of Prama’s services and can advise customers on same
  10. Ensure all work is undertaken with due regard to Health and Safety at Work guidelines and Prama’s policies and procedures as outlined in the Staff Handbook and employment contract
  11. Undertake other tasks commensurate to the role as required
