Job Title:Apprentice Assembler / Bench Joiner

Grade:National Minimum Wage

Responsible to:Workshop Team Leader

Responsible for:Working under the direction and guidance of an experienced Bench Joiner to support the assembly and joinery of all bespoke products within the workshop, whilst working towards an NVQ (joinery apprenticeship through East Durham College) to gain the skills and experience to become a fully operational Bench Joiner.

Role Hierarchy

The following list is typical of the level of duties which the Apprentice Assembler / Bench Joiner is expected to perform or be responsible for. It is not necessary exhaustive and other duties of similar type and level may be expected from time to time in line with business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Initially work under remote supervision of an experienced Bench Joiner to gain knowledge and experience of carrying out full assembly / pre-work process activities, laminating and bonding process activities, hand edge work process activities and solid surface / corian process activities
  • Once knowledge and experience are gained, take responsibility for own assembly projects, building towards more bespoke and complex joinery activities in an efficient and timely manner, ensuring all fixed small machines and hand power tools are maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair and operate according to manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Ensure all Health & Safety standards are maintained at all times and comply with all Health & Safety rules
  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are followed at all times
  • Accurately complete and submit all necessary paperwork, such as timesheets etc.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work place
  • Strive to achieve personal and departmental KPI’s
  • Ensure completion of all coursework to the required standard and take part in the apprentice review process and complete any identified training requirements
  • Conduct yourself in such a way as to bring credit to TSF and yourself

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Familiarisation with the Health and Safety policy, follow best practice and adhere to the requirements of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Personal responsibility to make full use of safety equipment, co-operate in all consultations and to not misuse or interfere with safety equipment.
  • Obligation to report to management any training needs, unsafe practices and/or working conditions, damage to equipment or reckless/violent behaviour by others.
