Job Title:Activity Co-ordinator

Reports To:Duty Manager

Responsible For:Activity Staff

  • Ensure the smooth running of the activity day.
  • Liaise with parent/carers when necessary.
  • Ensure all Activity Leaders know where locations are throughout the day and organise swim sessions where necessary.
  • Liaise with duty manager on each activity day where necessary.
  • Ensure all materials are tidied away at the end of the day.
  • Organise, explain and supervise the games and activities in a simple manner so that the children can understand them and ensure that they have fun and enjoy themselves whilst taking part.
  • Encourage and motivate children to work at their own pace whilst encouraging active participation and praise the children on their achievements.
  • Promote good hygiene and manners, support positive conduct and manage a wide range of behaviour and ensure that the children are aware of the behaviour and safety boundaries.
  • Ensure that the environment is safe, fun, stimulating, interesting and secure.
  • Maintain the equipment and make sure unused equipment is out of the way and store safely so that it doesn’t cause any harm to anybody.
  • Aid registration with OFSTED to ensure that the staff, activities and premises continue to provide a suitable standard of care for young children in line with the national standards.
  • Work in compliance with the Codes of Conduct, Policies and Procedures and ensure that everyone is treated as an individual and adhere to prompting equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Ensure signing in and out and all other documentation is completed correctly and in full and then filed appropriately.
  • Know the emergency fire and evacuation procedure and record any accidents and incidents in the correct format.
  • Attend staff meetings/training sessions to either enhance current skills or meet legislation requirements.
  • Understand, recognise and react in a case of suspected child abuse and be aware of the procedures.

If working on dual use site to ensure the building is unlocked and locked in line with company procedures

Essential Criteria

a)NVQ Level 3 Playwork or equivalent

b)First Aid Certificate (Dual use Sports Centres only)

Desirable Criteria

a)Previous experience of working in the leisure/sports industry

b)Experience of working with children.

c)Sporting qualification (SSLA)
