YORKTOWN - Jeanette Jacobs Stokes, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 10, 2010.
Mrs. Stokes was a native of Pippa Passes, Ky., and a Yorktown resident for 60 years. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred C. Stokes; her parents, Carlos and Edith Jacobs; a daughter, Jeanette Deel; and grandchildren, Sam and Amanda Deel; and four brothers, Dallas, Ray, Afton, and Johnny Jacobs; and a dear and special friend, Calvin Slone.
She is survived by her five daughters, Edith Grindstaff (Rob), Diane Bailey (Mark), Pam Shisler (Scott) all of Yorktown, Karen Myers (Jeff) and Barbara MacPherson (Ian) both of Florida; three sons, Larry Stokes of Yorktown, Gary Stokes (Zina) of Williamsburg, and Ray Stokes (Melinda) of Gloucester; five sisters, Georgia Combs of Pippa Passes, Ky., Nella Harnishfeger of Grand Rapids, Okla., Betty Turner Knoxville, Tenn., Kassie Berry of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gwen Williams of London, Ky.; a brother, Ford Jacobs of Pippa Passes, Ky.; and 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Peacefully passed away at CambridgeMemorialHospital on Thursday, June 17, 2010. Beloved husband of Victoria (Silva) Stokes. John Edwin Stokes

John Edwin Stokes, 80, of Paso Robles passed away after a prolonged illness Monday, July 12, 2010, in San Luis Obispo. John was a member of the Masonic fraternity for over 55 years, having served as Master of Ashlar Lodge No. 306 in Colton, Calif., in 1961, 1975 and again in 1992 with San Simeon Lodge No. 286 in Cambria, where he was also a Hiram Award recipient. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 in the Korean conflict and left the service as a First Sergeant. John is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara; three children Paul Stokes, Kathy Gonzalez (Dan) and Jon Stokes (Barbara); seven grandchildren Paul Jr., Joshua, Devon, Sarah, Jacob, John and Amy; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Roberta. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at the Paso Robles Masonic Lodge, 320 Sherwood Road in Paso Robles. For more information, go to

Lloyd Murray Stokes

STOKES Lloyd Murray Stokes, age 68, passed away July 11, 2010 at a local hospital. He was a regular member of the Bayou La Batre Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents Murray and Loistine Stokes, brother Ronald Stokes and sisters Arlene Oliver and Jean Mahathy. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Edna, son Sean (Dannette), daughter Lynn (David) Campbell, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brothers Aubrey, Donald, Alvin, Alton, Glen, Raymond, and Rodney, sisters Sandra, Ruth, Glenda, Geraldine, Ernestine, Linda, Darlene, other relatives and many friends. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday July 15, 2010 at 2 pm and visitation will be Wednesday night from 5 to 8 pm both from Oak Park Ministries, 3321 Sollie Rd. Lydia Stokes

Funeral services will be held at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Lydia Stokes, 95, who passed away Monday, July 12, at 3 a.m. at her residence in Lafayette. The Rev. Hampton Davis, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace, will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in LafayetteMemorial Park. Mrs. Stokes was the daughter of Otto Reiszner, of Iowa, and the former Lander Wiley, of Lecompte. Lydia was born in Lecompte on Oct. 12, 1914. She moved to Bunkie after her marriage in 1935. For the past 57 years, she was a resident of Lafayette. She was previously active in LaCauserie, Lafayette Town House, Oakbourne Country Club and numerous other organizations. In her later years, she remained involved with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Lynette Stokes Clarke and husband John, of Bunkie; sons, George Winston Stokes and wife Edith, of Lafayette, and Winston Lee "Skip" Stokes and wife Kathryn, of The Woodlands, Texas; her sisters, Marion Reiszner Pearce and husband Berthol "Boots," and Juanita Reiszner Wedaman, all of Bunkie; grandchildren, Martha Domingue Williams and husband Miles, of Baton Rouge, Jimi "Boo" Domingue Bernard and husband Neal, of Woodway, Texas, Floyd "Joey" Domingue Jr., and wife Michelle, of Lafayette, Winston Lee Domingue and wife Laura, of Baton Rouge, Lydia Domingue, of Lafayette, Anthony Brent Stokes and wife Laura, Andrew Brett Stokes and wife Joan, George Winston Stokes Jr. and wife Brandi, Keith Charles Stokes and wife Melanie, all of Lafayette, Beverly Stokes Mentzer and husband Ray, Michael Winston Stokes and wife Colleen, all of The Woodlands, and Robert Walter Stokes and wife Julie, of Santa Ana, Calif.; 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Lander Reiszner; her beloved husband, Winston L. Stokes; sisters, Sybil R. Collins, Claire R. Davoust, Freida R. White, and Rosa Lee R. Cox. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Tuesday, July 13, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visiting resumes Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Stokes, Joey Domingue, Brent Stokes, Brett Stokes, Lee Domingue, Winston Stokes, Robert Stokes and Keith Stokes.
