Please use the following questions to review, discuss, and understand this week’s sermon in your Renew Group:

●How do the laws in Exodus 20:22-23:19 begin in 20:22? What does this tell you about God’s Word? What does this mean for your life? Your family? Our church?

●Pastor Jeremy made the point the past two weeks that the laws of God reveal the nature and character of God. Review the laws in Exodus 20:22-23:19. What do these laws reveal about God? What truths about God did you especially need to be reminded of? How do these truths help you to enjoy God more?

●Pastor Jeremy said that the law relates to our lives in one of three ways - failed, fulfilled, and for you. What did he mean by those three “f’s”? How did the law of Moses, the covenant of Moses, fail? What was the reason for that failure? How do Jeremiah 31:31-33; Ezekiel 36:26-27; Galatians 3:10; and Romans 3:10; 5:20 teach how and why the law fails? Why was the purpose of God in doing it like this? What does this mean for your life? How does this impact your parenting? Evangelism?

●How as the law of God fulfilled in Jesus Christ? How did Jesus fulfill the law of God for us? What New Testament texts point to Christ’s fulfillment of the law in our place? What does this mean for our lives? What is the required response to the news of Jesus’ fulfilment of the law in our place? How does Abraham help us see our need for faith?

●Does the failure of the law to save, the fulfillment of the law in Christ, remove the necessity to obey the law? How or how not? What word summarizes all the law? Where do we see this summary of the law in the Bible? Pastor Jeremy focused on several laws in Exodus 20:22-23:19 including 21:10; 21:22; 23:19; 22:28. How are you doing in relation to those laws? Where else did God bring to your attention for need of repentance and growth? Consider confessing any known sin to those in your group and asking for prayer and accountability.
