Israel S Rejection Is Your Salvation. Israel S Salvation Is Your Savior S Return

Romans Part 3

Lesson 8

Kay Arthur

Israel’s Rejection is Your Salvation. Israel’s Salvation is Your Savior’s Return.

As you read Romans remember:

  • Paul’s Gospel is God’s Gospel
  • Paul’s epistle to the Romans is God’s Word to the church
  • The Truth that God gives us in Romans is the truth God wants us to have; therefore it is all you need to know.

In Salvation, Man’s Responsibilities Are:

  1. To let go of his own self-righteousness and by faith subject self to God’s righteousness (10:3)
  2. To believe in his heart and confess with his mouth Jesus as Lord (10:9-10)
  3. To call upon the Name of the Lord (10:13)
  4. To have beautiful feet (10:15)

ALL WILL NOT HEED, BUT ALL WILL HEAR

  1. Through those with beautiful feet
  2. Through creation and their God consciousness

Ps. 19

Romans 10:18

There are two divisions in Psalm 19

Verses 1-6 Heavens declaring God’s glory

Verses 7-14 Scriptures declaring God’s Word/or servant Jesus

Ps. 19:1-3 There is a witness but it is inaudible

Universal testimony/declaration

Ps. 19:4-6 Heaven, sun and stars

Ps. 19:7-11 Word of God

Romans 1:19-20Every man has a God consciousness

Nature testifies to the fact that there is God! The Creator.

  1. Israel will hear through the Gentiles who were given Israel’s privileges (Romans 10:19-21)

Paul moves to his second major point of why, if this gospel is God’s gospel, Israel has not been saved.

Romans 9:1-10:21 It is not the Word of God that has failed. Why? 1. God sovereignly chooses

2. Only a remnant would be saved

3. Israel stumbled over the

“Stumbling Stone” Jesus

4. Because faith comes by hearing and

hearing by the word of God.

Romans 11:1-36 God has not rejected Israel

  1. Israel’s rejection is not total but partial.
  2. Israel’s rejection is not eternal but temporal
  3. Israel’s rejection is the salvation of the world.

God has Not rejected Israel, has He? No!

  1. Paul is a Jew, part of the remnant
  2. Israel’s temporary rejection is the Gentile’s salvation/reconciliation of the world. Rev. 5:9-10
  3. The root is still there, the branches will be grafted in
  4. Their deliverance will come when the fullness of the Gentiles comes in John 10:14-16
  5. God has made a covenant with them
  6. The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable (11:29)
  7. God is merciful: as He was merciful to the Gentiles, He will be to the Jews.

Romans 9 opens with a cry of grief but ends with a eulogy of Praise and Trust.

Romans 9 – 11 Whole scope of salvation to the Jew – Gentile – Jew

Romans 11:2 God foreknew Israel

Romans 11:2-4Not all! 7,000 remained

Romans 11:5 God always has a believing remnant

Romans 11:5-7 NOT by works

Romans 11:8-11They did not stumble as to never recover

Romans 11:11 The very stumbling of Israel brought salvation to the Gentiles. “I came to the house of Israel”

Romans 1:16-17

It was our salvation to make them jealous (10:19)

Jews are a nation – the rest of the world is not A nation.

When you witness to a Jew you make them jealous.

Romans 11:12

Romans 11:13-14 Paul knows he is responsible to deliver the gospel. He doesn’t know who the chosen/elect are.

It’s no problem to graft them back in. You were grafted in and you were wild!!

Romans 11:17-19 Salvation is of the Jews

Romans 11:20 You stand only by your faith

Romans 11:21 Natural branches cut off because of unbelief

Romans 11:22 IF – you continue – continuance in the faith is evidence of salvation.

Romans 11:23-25

John 10:14-16 One flock with One Shepherd

Romans 11:25-27

Jer. 31:33-34 They shall all know ME

All Israel that is living at the time Christ comes back; not from Abraham on.

Jer. 33:14-21 He is a covenant keeping God. It will not be broken.

The Lord our Righteousness: Jehovah Tsidkenu

Jer. 33:25-26 I will have mercy on them.

Romans 11:26-27 All Israel will be saved

How much of Israel will there be when Christ comes back?

Zech. 13:7-8 2/3 of Jews destroyed 1/3 Jews saved

Romans 11:28 Standpoint of the gospel – Jews are enemies for YOUR sake

Standpoint of God’s choice – Beloved for the sake of the fathers – Covenant

Romans 11:29 God does not change His mind. He takes nothing back.

Romans 11:30-32 Mercy to All

Romans 11:33-36 God is debtor to NO man

Romans chapter 1 through 11 Doctrine

Romans chapter 12 through 16 Duty

We are debtors of the gospel and to those who have it not.
