Internet/Network Setup for EZdvr-Plus
Requirements:
xDSL, Cable Modem, or any other type of high speed dedicated internet/network connection with a static IP address.
If the DVR system is assigned a static IP address, then most of the time nothing further needs to be performed on the host DVR system.
If the static IP address is assigned to the high speed modem/router/gateway and your DVR system receives a private address via DHCP from your modem/router, then additional configuration steps need to be performed on the modem/router.
Since there are so many types of modems/routers available it is impossible for this guide to go into step by step instruction for each type of connection and modem/router combination. In order to perform the next steps, the installer must have some general knowledge of networking principals, especially in the area of “port forwarding”. If the DVR system is attached a modem/router that provides private IP addresses via DHCP, then the installer must configure the DVR system with a private static IP address and then configure the modem/router to perform “port forwarding” to the new private static IP address. The following ports are required to be forwarded. In most cases, only the TCP ports need to be opened. If there are access issues after opening only the TCP ports, then open the UDP ports as well. Putting the DVR IP address into the DMZ is a last resort option.

Port 9091 to 9091 – DVR Client Access
Port 9092 to 9092 – DVR Client Access
Port 9093 to 9112 – DVR Client Access
Port 5800 to 5800 – VNC Access
Port 5900 to 5900 – VNC Java Access
In the following example, I will explain how to setup an Actiontec GT-701WG wireless modem/router used by Qwest DSL. The first step is to enter the modem/router IP address in Internet Explorer to access the main setup page for the modem/router. By default most routers/gateways are assigned one of the following IP address: 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1. Please refer to your router/gateway documentation for exact IP address, login ID, and password to configure the router/gateway.
