International Şirnak and Its Environs Symposium

INTERNATIONAL ŞIRNAK AND ITS ENVIRONS SYMPOSIUM

Şırnak province and its environs have a wealty potential of history, cultural and economic as the other places to exist in this region. But by today this potential could not evaluate because of different causes. Science World and Şırnak University have a big responsibility to bring to light this wealty potential and to attain deserved point our province between developed provinces.

Şırnak region, hosting one of the most important events of the history of humanity, Noah Flood and Hz. Noah, has become capital to important civilisiations like Babil, Asur, Guti and has still protect the signs and symbols of Persian-Sasanian, Emevi-Abbasi, Mervani, Selcuklu and Otoman Civilisiations.

Şırnak Province has also wealty in terms of the tourism of belief. Lots of historical mosques, moslem theological schools, churchs strengthen and gives colour to this region in terms of history and tradition. The Mountain of Cudi, one of the most important places, is candidate to be one of the centres of charm in terms of domestic and foreign tourism.

Important religious functionaries and scientists leaving one’s mark have grown up inŞırnak region. Şeyh Ahmet el Cezerî (1404-1479), known as “Mela-i Ciziri” and one of the most important mystics and sufis; Ebu’l-İz el-Cezerî (1153-1233), known as founder the science of cybernetic and automation and accepted as inventor of robot and watch; İbnu’l-Esir el-Cezerî (1160-1234), known as famous history and hadith wise; all of these figures are only few characters growing up in Islam World. Şırnak region having the cultural accumulation of both Muslim groups and Suryani, Ermeni, Yezidi and Yahudi communities and being the mosaic of belief have deserved to attract attention lots of religious researchers.

The region is also wealty in terms of the nature tourism. The Mountain of Cudi, the Rivers of Dicle and Habur, hot springs and healing waters are hearts of this region. The geographic structure of this region is very important to be suitable lots of sports branch such as mountain sports, orienteering, rafting etc.

Şal-Şapik fabric, apparel styles, homes, carpet weaving, folk dances and traditional cookery of Şırnak province have cultural wealth specialities of this region.

Şırnak having border with Irak and Syria witnesses both border trade and a live trade life. Khabur Customs Gate and Silk Road needs to be examined as important factors activating economic potential of region and to be brought to light its effects to social life.

To this end Symposium Regulatory Board offers the history, science and culture of Şırnak and its environs for the first timeto the interest of the scientific world in an international symposium within the framework of the following topics.

OVERVIEW

-The languages which will be used in the proposal of the symposium are Turkish, English and Arabic.

-There is facilities like computer, data procektion mechine ect. for presentetiions.

-Presentetion owners will have 20 minutes.

-Letter of convocation can be given if called for.

-Instrument of accession will be edited for giving owners of presentetions.

-Presentetions will be publish with orijinal language and Turkihs translation.

-Applications will be made with an abstract that contains maximum 500 words and describes the subject with the key words.

-We will meet all expenses like journey, accommodation, feeding ect.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

We are planning 2 trips in 3 days that symposium will occure; one of them is Cizre and the other one is Khabur – Zaho – Duhok. Furthermore we are planning for participators Şırnak folk mucis concert, folk-dance show and open exhibition of Şırnak carpet handloom and skilled trade.

TRANSPOTATION

Acces to Şırnak is being gained by airline to Diyarbakır and Mardin, from this cities to Şırnak with overland. There is flights to Diyarbakır and Mardin especially from İstanbul and Ankara. Distance Şırnak to Mardin is 201 km and Şırnak to Diyarbakır 284 km. Our guest will be came accross in Mardin and Diyarbakır airports and their acces to hotel and come back to airport will be gained by us.
