GS-11 positions: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a veterinary college accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Council on Education. No post DVM experience required.

GS-12 positions: One year of progressively responsible professional veterinary experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level that demonstrates the ability to independently perform the veterinary medical duties required of the position. A Master’s degree, in addition to a DVM degree, is qualifying at this grade level.
