Cofely, supplier in technical solutions for airport related services, presents a new remote security screening system

Continuously searching for innovative solutions to increase security and facilitate the passenger’s control, Cofely integrated a new screening method for hand luggage’s and users at Brussels Airport.

-Fully automatized lanes : the trays arrive automatically at the beginning of the check point and after following the circuit are redistributed at the beginning of each lane.

-Remote screening : where before the scans of the screened belongings used to be controlled at the security checkpoint itself, they are now supervised by a team of security agents located in a distant control room. There, several agents receive the images for analyze, ensuring an increased level of attention and security.

-Redirecting of suspicious luggage’s : the security agent will tag virtually the concerned tray, redirecting it automatically towards an alternative lane for deeper inspection.

-Supervisory Control and data acquisition (scada system): Cofely developed a proper software system to supervise permanently the flow of the lanes, measure the fluidity of the luggage traffic and anticipate technical issues through an alert system.

The airport of Brussels, where the system is in use since beginning of 2015, is the first one to apply remote screening on a larger scale. With his 25 new screening lanes it is the biggest screening platform in Europe. Cofely is in charge of the installation, control and maintenance of the system.
