Service/Support Offered: / Willowgrove provides a range of residential and community-based short break/respite support placements to young people aged 6 – 18 years who have a range of physical, learning and sensory disabilities. Apart from routine day-to-day requirements some of our young people need to be manually lifted, fed, and their personal care needs provided for, including the administration of medication and practical tasks e.g. preparation of meals, laundry and general housekeeping.
This post is about specific tasks in the Residential Unit outlined in the Job Profile.

JOB PROFILE

Job Title:Housekeeper/Domestic

Location:Willowgrove

Responsible to:Children’s Team Manager

Job Purpose

To ensure that the building is maintained to a clean and orderly standard, in keeping with Health & Safety regulations.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. General washing, cleaning and tidying duties throughout the building including;
  • Daily cleaning of assigned rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, corridor areas and public areas. This includes changing bed linen, replacing towels, cleaning/sanitising bathrooms/medical areas thoroughly,vacuuming, mopping and dusting daily.
  • Ensuring the upkeep of all rooms
  • Food and waste bins emptied daily
  • Skirting boards and other woodwork washed.
  • Interior windows and glass shined.
  • Interaction with service users when appropriate.
  1. Order and maintain stock of cleaning materials.
  1. To carry out laundry duties on a daily basis whilst building is occupied.
  1. Attend appropriate training and supervision sessions as required.
  1. Maintain appropriate Health & Safety standards within the house.
  1. Any other duties as directed by the Children’s Team Manager.

OUTLINE TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The following information represents the key terms & conditions of this post and should not be viewed as a Contract of Employment.
Salary: / £8.45 per hour, Grade Z40A. Salary will be paid in 12 equal monthly payments.
Hours: / 16 hours per week, mornings
Place of Work: / You will be based at Willowgrove Service, Banbridge. However, you may be required to work at any place where work has to be performed on behalf of Barnardo’s as it may reasonably determine.
Pay Periods: / 23rd monthly; direct to building society/bank account
Probationary Period: / Normally six months
Appraisal: / Annual
Holidays: / 26 days per annum. Leave entitlement is increased by 3 days on completion
of 5 years’ Barnardo’s service.
In addition, ten statutory holidays are granted.
Pension: / Auto-enrolment to Barnardo’s Retirement Savings Plan
Smoking Policy: / Barnardo’s operates a smoking policy
