2015Junior Tennis Scholarship Application
Introduction
Northern Tennis Foundation Mission: To provide resources and financial support to young people in need who have the dreams, the goals, and the desire to succeed both on and off the court.
"Serving Up Love" is the mantra for the Northern Tennis Foundation (NTF), operating as a part of the USTA Northern Section. The Foundation is a fund that ensures children will have the opportunity to play the game of tennis and achieve their dreams. Our scholarships are inclusive of youngsters from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds and those who would not otherwise have access to the sport.
Scholarships Offered
The Foundation offers scholarships for youth age 10-17 who reside within the USTA Northern Section and have a financial hardship that prevents them from pursuing tennis related interests. Scholarship funds can be used for: tennis program fees, tournament expenses, equipment, court fees or coaching services. Please note that players playing high school tennis should check with Tony Stingley as to how scholarships could affect their eligibility prior to applying. The following scholarships are available:
- Diverse Player Scholarship: This scholarship was created with input from the USTANorthern Diversity and Inclusion Council and supports the level one priority of Diversity and Inclusion within USTA Northern.It is available toyoung people of ethnically diverse heritage who have excelled academically and participatedin an organized community tennis program.
- Serving Up Love Scholarship: This scholarship is made possible through the generous donations of our members. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to education, their community, and have participated in an organized tennis program.
Funding Awards
Scholarship awards typically range from $250 - $1,000.
Scholarship Selection Criteria
Among those items to be considered:
- Financial need
- Tennis involvement, past success, and potential
- Community involvement
- School achievement-Minimum 3.0 GPA or equivalent
- Use of grant funds
- Sportsmanship on and off the court
