I took principal responsibility for designing and implementing the law school’s first graduate degree program, the Master of Laws (LL.M.) Program in American Law for Foreign Lawyers, inaugurated in Fall Term 2002. Since then, I guided the creation and approvals of four additional LL.M. tracks: International & Comparative Law; Health Law, Policy and Bioethics; Intellectual Property Law; and International Human Rights Law. I chair the LL.M. Admissions Committee. As of fall 2006, approximately 70 LL.M. students were enrolled. I also designed and obtained approvals for the Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) degree, the terminal degree in law, offered by approximately 15 per cent of law schools in the United States. I chair the S.J.D. Graduate Committee. Approximately five S.J.D. candidates are enrolled.

In 1997 I returned to Beijing to continue discussions at ChinaUniversity and PekingUniversity and to initiate discussions at Renmin (People’s) University of China and TsinghuaUniversity.
