In Continuation with Our Philosophy of Holistic Grooming of Our Students Right From

Dear Parent, 3 June ’17

Greetings!!

It’s time for summer vacations. The School will be closed wef 4 June’17 and reopen on 3 July’17. We had an action packed, invigorating learning programme throughout the first thirty three days of academic session spanning 2May – 3June’17.

In continuation with our philosophy of holistic grooming of our students right from Kindergarten, we aim to address the seven domains of development in early childhood years. I’m going to sound a bit like a text book now, I’m sorry! Kindly bear with me! Our lower kindergarten educational programme aims to address each of the seven domains mentioned below. Our holiday home assignment, worksheets, activities as well as the curriculum of LKG collectively address the seven developmental domains of Early Childhood Care and Education. The seven domains are:

  1. Gross Motor Development: - Involves use of Big muscles in our body eg; crawling, running, skipping, jumping etc.
  2. Fine Motor Development: Activities in this domain teach hand-eye coordination. Children learn to precisely control the muscles in their hands. e.g. - colouring, tearing paper, writing etc.
  3. Language Development:- This domain includes learning the ABC’s as well as sounds each letter makes, oral and written language. Please read a lot to your children, talking about things throughout the day is essentially important. Learning new words will encourage him/her to participate more in social situations.
  4. Cognitive Development: This includes pre number skills and early maths skills. It also includes cause-effect and reasoning skills. Counting, patterning, puzzles etc.
  5. Social / Emotional Development: - Playing with others, manners, using kind words fall in this domain. It also makes your child feel safe and matured.
  6. Self-Help/Adaptive: e.g – learning to dress oneself, feed oneself, using the toilet, brushing teeth, bathing, tying laces etc. It includes all that helps a child feel independent.
  7. Spiritual & Moral: -Teaching little ones to love and obey God is the most important thing you can ever do. It paves way to decide wrong and right actions later as they grow. In my opinion, this is the area that is most lacking in today’s fast paced life. And if parents don’t teach it, who will??

The main thing to know about the above seven domains is ‘they are all inter related and equally important' for a balanced development of personality.

Hence, running, jumping & climbing are just as important for a child as learning the ABC’s. Learning should be age specific and scientifically proceed according to mental age. Most of all, let your child be a happy, healthy child!!

Thank you for your understanding, love and co-operation through the first academic month.

Warm regards!

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Different types of language are spoken by people from different regions but the most important thing is that, any language, when spoken should be spoken correctly.. the two common language that our children should be able to speak fluently are Hindi and English. Since English is a universal language spoken and understood by people all over the world ,we want our children also to be proficient in speaking it and for this we need full support and cooperation. We would appreciate if you adhere to the following points. Converse with your child in English. Let’s encourage the children to use words, phrase and sentence.. Like.

  • I am feeling. Hungry.
  • I am feeling thirsty.
  • Mom, Please give me something to eat.
