Chapter 1-3 Summary Checklist

Call of the Wild

1. This should be a complete paragraph. It should include only three events and should be formatted as follows:

Introductory sentence, major event, detail, major event, detail, major event, detail, concluding sentence (about 8 sentences total) I should be able to clearly detect the major events and the detail helps to explain that event.

2. The mood should address the mood created for the reader at the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Make it clear which mood occurs during which point in the story and give detail to support the mood that you are stating.

3. Most people understood metaphor and similes but please be sure that it is formatted as follows:

Metaphor or simile with explanation:

Metaphor or simile with explanation:

4. Please be careful with this last part. Always be aware when a question is asking you to answer more than one part. First provide an example of anthropomorphism. Then, explain how London makes this point of view credible. Why do we believe that Buck’s point of view is credible? Why do we feel emotional when he is hurt and frustrated when he is struggling? Lastly, give a complete explanation of how this story would be different from a human’s point of view. Pick Francois or Perrault as an example and explain, with detail, how the story would be different from their point of view. Do not simply state that it would be from a human’s perspective. Give explanation and examples to support your statement.
