Imaginary Worlds at Oriel Davies

EXHIBITION DATES: 22 October 2016– midFebruary 2017

Oriel Davies invites illustrators, book artists, printmakers and comic artists and those studying any of these to submit entries of work for possible inclusion in an exhibition at Oriel Davies from 22 October 2016 – February 2017.

There is a broad theme of ‘Imaginary Worlds ’and we are keen to appeal to creative professionals and students who work with, but are not limited to, illustration for children’s and adult prose and poetry, graphic novels, artists books, cartoons, posters and magazines. Sketchbooks, AV and 3D works are all valid as entries. We are keen that works are for sale where possible. Wall mounted works should be framed and glazed.

(There is no geographical restriction and entry is open both to professional artists and to students (17+) currently training).

HOW TO ENTER

There is no entry fee.

Electronic submissions only.

Complete the entry form and email OR send via cloud based file transfer with ‘Oriel Davies ILLUSTRATION SHOW’ as the subject header to:

Up to three pieces of work can be entered.

1. Supply maximum ofthree digitised still images per work andsaved as jpg files at 300dpi (each file no bigger than 2mb each). Please do not supply images as tiff files.

For AV / moving images, please provide a link via Vimeo, YouTube, website, etc. together with the relevant password/s.

No actual works will be accepted for submission.

2. Completed Entry Form with a list of titles, media, sizes etc.

Selection Process

Works for the exhibition will be selected from the images submitted. Oriel Davies cannot guarantee that any individual work or artist will be selected for exhibition. The selectors' decision is final and Oriel Davies will not enter into discussions regarding acceptance.

Notification of outcome

Artists whose work is selected for inclusion will be notified on or before the 5 July2016. Unsuccessful applications will be notified by email on or before 12 July 2016. Please do not contact the Gallery before these dates.

If your work is selected

Transportation and Insurance

Artists are responsible for transport arrangements of their work/s to and from the Gallery. Artists should insure their work while in transit both ways ensuring that it is adequately packed. Oriel Davies Gallery will cover insurance while work is in its care only. The selling price will be used as the insurance value. As any insurance claim will be subject to an excess of £500, artists are advised to cover the excess amount with their own insurance. The Gallery reserves the right not to display work that has been damaged in transit.

Labelling

Accepted art works must be clearly labelled showing name and address of the artist, title of the work, medium, date, and selling price. The information should match the entry form.

Hanging

The Curator and Selectors will not enter into discussions regarding installation and hanging.

Sale of Work

The Gallery will take a commission of 35% inclusive of VAT from the selling price. Oriel Davies will not enter into dealings with third parties such as commercial galleries or artists' representatives.

Delivery and collection of work

Artists are required to deliver their works to the Gallery between 10am and 5pm on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 October. The work will need to be collected within 2 weeks after the show has closed (closing date early February 2017 exact date tbc).

Availability of work

All works submitted must be available for the duration of the exhibition and cannot be taken from display until after the exhibition closes unless by prior agreement.

Copyright

The copyright of each work remains with the entrant. By signing this entry form, artists give permission for their work to be photographed for publicity purposes and to give permission for images of the work in the exhibition to be published. A full list with images of the work in the exhibition will be on the Gallery's website.
