Head of School

I can't believe we are approaching the end of the school year, the year has gone so quickly and we are already looking forward to next year.

Today was Transition Day for Y2 children who are moving into Y3. They spent the day at the Upper Site, looking round, having sample lessons and getting to know their new teachers. It was a very successful day and the children seemed to really enjoy themselves. Hopefully all your questionswere answered but if not please ask a member of staff. It is important to us that you are happy about the transition.

Y6 have spent the last two days at the High School and we hope they areenjoying theirvisit. A date for your diaryis18th JulywhenY6 will be having a graduation ceremony. This is also the date for the Y6 Prom. Y6 will all receive a letter about this next week so please keep an eye out for it.

You may have heard in the news thatJuly5th is the proposed date for a strike by members of the NUT. This is also the date of our KS1 sports day. If the strike goes ahead it may be necessary to cancel this. We willmake sure you know as soon as possible if this is the case.

School provide all the equipment that your child is likely to need, so from September personal pencil cases will not be allowed into school. If your child does bring one in it will be put in a safe place till the end of the day. This avoids disappointment and upsetwhen pencils get mixed up or lost as they inevitably do!

Over recent weeks we have noticedthat an increasing amount of dog excrement is being left behind by dog walkers who are not cleaning up after their pets. Not only is this very unpleasant to see but it is also a health hazard! If you or someoneyou know walks their dog near our school can you please remind them about the need to clean up after their dog. We have alerted the council to this problem and they will be patrolling the area. There is also a lot of broken glass around the site so please can we ask that you take care as you enter or leave the premises and if you or your childshould accidentally drop a bottle on site please inform the caretaker. We have also informed the council about this and they are looking into taking action against offenders as this is potentially very dangerous for our children.

Unfortunately they finished 5th; however they demonstrated determination, passion and respect and got the opportunity to experience competition of that level. Well done to those that were involved.

On Tuesday this week, a very loud noise was heard coming from the hall at the Upper Site. It was a great noise of 30 drummers and percussion players who were given the chance to learn some Samba rhythms in preparation for the Rio Olympic Games. All of the Year 4 and Year 6 children had an hours workshop with Rock School's Connor who had travelled all the way from Manchester to tutor us. A great time was had by all!

This must be paid in advance by bringing the correct money into school in a named, sealed envelope and your child will put it in the blue box in the classroom.
