HYDRAULIC COMBINATION TOOL SPECIFICATIONS
One (1) Amkus Model #AMK-25C hydraulically powered combination rescue tool shall be provided. The spreader/cutter shall consist of a tool body and operating controls, spreading and cutting arms, and hose pigtails for connection to a hydraulic power unit. The tool shall be designed for spreading, cutting, and pulling a variety of different materials in rescue operations.
Tool Body and Controls
The body of the tool shall house a piston controlling the blades that open and close as the piston moves. The center mounted "dead man" twist grip on the tool shall open or close the blades and shall utilize pressure to relocate the material it is in contact with. The rubber coated twist grip shall be spring loaded to allow the control valve to return to the center or neutral position upon release of the twist grip. The control valve shall have an integral check valve designed to prevent loss of pressure in the tool when the valve is closed. The check valve shall prevent any movement of the tool when hydraulic power is not present.
The hydraulic tool shall be provided with a protective rubber boot covering the base of the blades. The safety boot shall prevent foreign objects from becoming caught in the operating mechanism.
Spreading / Cutting Arms
The arms of the tool shall be constructed of anodized steel and shall operate at a maximum operating pressure of 10,500 psi. The spreading portion of the arm shall have a spreading distance of 15.5 inches with a maximum spreading force at the tips of 9,900 pounds. The unit shall have a serrated cutting edge blade opening of 7.0 inches with a maximum cutting force that shall be 57,000 pounds. The tips of the arms shall have a predrilled hole for use with an Amkus combination tool chain package thus allowing for any pulling evolution.
Tool Handles
The cutter shall have one (1) rubber-coated handle on the side of the tool to allow the operator optimum cutting positioning and balance. There shall be an additional pre-drilled, threaded hole for the insertion of the side handle perpendicular to the control valve. This shall provide for right or left handed operation.
Hose Connections
Quick connect couplings shall be provided on the combination tool for connection to the hydraulic pump or hydraulic extension hose. The connections shall be compatible with all other components of the hydraulic rescue system.
