HS 415 Final Exam Review Sheet

·  The final exam will be given on Tues, May 9th from 10:00am- Noon (regular classroom) and is worth 100 points.

·  The test format will include true and false (correct the false and make them

true), multiple choice (circle all that apply), short answer, and short essay.

▪ You will be asked to comprehend, apply, and synthesize skill and knowledge

·  The exam will cover assigned readings in both Jackson texts (see syllabus), the course packet, and all material covered in class.

·  Reread reserve articles for understanding.

You should be able to do the following:

3.  Explain the importance of and need for comprehensive school health education.

4.  What are some of the indicators that a school has a comprehensive school health program (vs. simply

offering health education classes)?

5.  Describe the process of ‘Backwards Design’ and ‘Understanding by Design.’ Be able to correctly

identify examples

6.  Write a measurable behavioral objective to address a specific national health standard /topic

and level of Bloom’s Taxonomy.

7.  Match sample behavioral objectives to the appropriate standard (s).

8.  Match sample behavioral objectives with the correct level on Bloom’s Taxonomy.

9.  When given examples of behavioral objectives, determine whether or not they are measurable.

Short Essays

You are a school health educator (you may choose M.S or H.S. level).

·  Describe how you will set the stage for success in your classroom– remember to focus on

PREVENTION rather than behavioral interventions. Think of as many effective strategies as

possible to ensure a positive and productive classroom environment.

·  Respond to a parent / Student / Colleague who says that health is mostly ‘fluff’ and that the time would be better spent doing additional math or language arts. Your response should be clear and professional (vs. defensive and sanctimonious. (refer to reserve article #1, Pateman)
